Been using IMGUR for years and now this shit happens when I try to get a direct link to the image.

The hell is this? Is this seriously how direct image links are going to be from now on? Why!?

Can you clarify whether you're using mobile browser or desktop browser? I just checked the direct link image on desktop browser and it just shows me the image.

Im using desktop, Firefox browser. But it looks a lot like a phone app-thing. Is this a thing they are rolling out that just havent reached everyone yet or is something going really weird here?

A lot of people are experiencing this, and I agree it makes imgur a lot less usable. Not doing stuff like this has been the entire appeal of the site after all.

Okay. I tried it on Firefox and I experienced something similar to your case. Maybe it only shows up on Firefox? Because I tried it on Opera too and it only shows me the image.

Have you tried to contact support? You might have better luck at finding an answer from support. This is just a user forum so we can't really help you.

E: Microsoft Edge shows the same result as Firefox.

I really hope this is some kind of temporary bug and not the actual future of the site. As ArsenoPyrite just said, it removes the entire appeal of the site.

I absolutely hate this. It's a major reason I dislike when people use gyazo. There's no way to even link to the real direct image without this stupid page coming with it, oh and worst of all, it's white.
Edit: It shrinks the image too. I hate that.

This new page won't even let you download images. An attempt to view the image directly, or use the provided button, fails because it attempts to serve you the page again, and surprise, a mess of JavaScript is not a JPEG or PNG file. The official instructions haven't even caught up to this stupidity yet.

This is the worst thing to ever happen to this site. I can't belive Im going to have to change my favorite place for my daily upload and image sharing needs but this is seriously so bad I am going to have to. Do they SERIOUSLY not understand that people do direct image links for a reason?

I think it's pretty safe to say that when the behavior of the site differs so drastically on one browser compared to all others that it is not intended and may be linked to a bug in the system.

I hate this change about direct link as a 2ch user.
Because 2ch has a lot of topics discussed for a long time and imgur has also played an important role for growth of our culture, this change has already caused many problems in the community.
I absolutely hope you turn it back to normal.

Yeah this kills using Imgur as an image hosting site for me. And if the new wrapped image lets people connect the image to my Imgur account in any way I will have to delete my account.

Edit: I keep wondering why Google doesn't provide a nice way to embed images. With their resources this is a feature they could provide within a day if they wanted to.

Not only does it make linking stuff look horrible, but imgur as a whole has a dark theme, why the white background.
No reason to link stuff anymore.

You can circumvent the issue by using i.filmot.org or i.filmot.com hosts, I don't know who is behind them.

The filmot links still give the wrapper. Imgur's stated reason of promoting the community more doesn't even make sense. They include a top viral link and a home link. Big whoop, why do I want that embedded with my image?? From their blog post it sounds like they will include suggested photos as well in the future.

I respect Imgur's goal to promote the community, but without an actual way to direct link my images there is zero point to me using the service. In fact the only reason I have kept using Imgur over google or amazon is because Imgur makes the direct link so easy. Now there isn't even a way to create one. Guess it is time to download all my photos and permanently move them over.

What a fucking shitshow. I guess imgur finally gave up pretending to be an image host, you know, the sole reason for its existence and popularity, and went full out corporate. I really hope it will backfire on them and teach them a lesson about usability as they have been pumping out anti-consumer updates time after time now, but features that are actually requested, like favorites folders? Lol, forget it.
