Well, trump never made it a secret that he would repeal the Affordable Care Act A.K.A Obamacare.

He said he was going to replace it with something "so much better and cheaper you won't believe it." "Beautiful health care."

Everyone will be covered!*

*Except 23 million who are currently covered.

It's just that the poor will be covered by body bags.

....Republican voters.

Hahah I love this. And the uneducated and easily influenced just ATE IT UP. Like, what did these people think was going to happen? To be watching Fox News 6 months after he's elected and be like, "WOW! I can't believe that? How did he come up with such a better healthcare plan?! This is beautiful!"

One of the problems is that people think the government is run by blithering idiots. People think they're smarter than Obama and that they're smarter than our entire elected body of officials. While yes, there are a ton of retarded elected representatives, people need to realize that sometimes there's only so much some people can do when it comes to making sweeping legislation.

So many people don't seem to be capable of higher thought. They're basically like small, woodland creatures. "Hey, that looks good over there, across the road. But I'm not going to think more than 2 seconds about it." gets hit by car

You know, as shitty as politicians are... there's a reason why we elect people with experience. But I guess after Trump, that's gonna change. Because apparently you can say the stupidest bullshit and get away with it.

Lmao you'd be surprised at how much governing is done without looking at the facts or even paying attention. They just go to meetings so it looks like they did something on paper and then rush some legislation through that someone paid them to.

I work with some members of the County health department and we were discussing schooling and nutrition, and this guy legitimately thought that his son went to a year round school when there haven't been any in our county in like 10-15 years. And the worst part of it is I graduated from the same school his son goes to now, and my little sister goes there too, so I know 100% for a fact that there's no possibility of this being true.

He also created a plan to combat poverty without actually doing research on what was available. He wanted to increase the amount of community gardens by 50% when in reality there are like 200 gardens in the area and none of them get used/maintained.

Completely agree with you but just to add that to be a good politician you have to understand politics and that includes compromising because Dems can be just as obstructionist as repubs were with Obama. Trump has no political chops whatsoever. It's one thing to campaign and it's a totally different ball game to govern. Trump was great at the former but utterly incompetent as the latter.

Republicans control the whole government, how could the democrats stop him?

There's still the senate filibuster. Remember you need BOTH houses of congress to pass a law AND THEN the president signs it. So if anyone of those 3 necessary conditions doesn't occur it doesn't become law. Unfortunately we can't obstruct as much because we nuked lower court appointments when we had a majority in the senate.

tells everyone "you won't believe it", then they proceed to believe it

And what is your plan to accomplish this, Mr Trump? Is it economically viable? Especially that last part.

Yeah, but he was obviously lying, so that doesn't count.

republicans doing what they said they'd do angers republicans who voted for them. it's almost like you could have seen this coming if you weren't a complete moron

Who are you? Miss Cleo? No one could have foreseen this spiteful policy. It's certainly not like the gop has a long standing record of this type of thing.

No one? I'd say anyone that follows republican/ conservative policy saw it coming. Anyone that followed what they've been doing in red states for decades knew exactly what would happen with a government run by a majority of republicans.

No one should be confused or surprised, Kansas does exist.

You're talking about a party of politicians that actively worked to cripple the ACA in their states by not accepting Medicaid extensions. The same politicians that have always wanted to reduce access to things like Medicaid and food benefits. That want to cut Medicare, social security disability, privatize social security, kick people off food benefits.

The only way you couldn't have seen this coming is if you've ignored everything republicans have been doing for the last 70 years or so, let alone the last 30. Trickle down economics? Hello.

I feel that most registered republicans really identify with McCain. They're all talk and no action. This person really regrets registering R, yet will continue to vote R until the day they die.

I think they just care more about making liberals angry than helping the country.

If you engage them civilly on twitter you get to see how alarmed they are about being swarmed by hordes of foreigners with a different genetic heritage. It is a clear and imminent danger to them. You cannot overstate how angry this makes them. Liberals are viewed as being on the side of immigrants, and against them, thus liberals become the enemy, the traitor. They are just trying to protect their country against an invasion. Now is where I point out the obvious that Russians are white.

That's what happens when you consume a diet of anger, paranoia, fear and lies. The Fox News propaganda (et al.) has a lot to answer for.

Except for all those very Asian looking Russians in the south...

Fear mongering by media networks is great for snagging viewers. When those people want to talk about illegal immigrants, ask them about illegal Russians, Asians, Indians...and watch their heads explode trying to come up with some sort of answer. The tv only told them to be scared of Mexicans, therefore creating the illusion that all illegal immigrants are Mexicans.

the best part is when you get to "immigrants with a different genetic heritage than me are a clear and imminent threat. also i am not racist." my brain just... shuts down.

There is a certain type of person that doesn't care about losing, as long as the opposing person is losing more.

No, they're maliciously stupid.

If he regrets voting for trump because he is repealing Obamacare then he didn't pay attention during the campaign.

A somewhat related question:

I don't use twitter but at times I'll follow a link to trumps twitter feed and see nothing but people that are pissed at him (and rightly so). Does Twitter priorities tweets in some way same as reddit or is it latest comment on top?

I assume it has to do with the reply's amount of Likes (kind of like upvotes) and Retweets.

I really will never understand what they thought would happen. How can people be so out of touch with the intentions of their party.

Because they interpret things they way they want to hear them. Not for what's actually being said.

"You want to improve this country? Well you can giiit out!"

I don't believe systemic racism, disinformation, lying, destroying of environmental protections, lack of respect for the judiciary, partisan populism, corruption, Russian election interference, economic inequality, a lack of scientific understanding, sexism, narcissism, petty punitive lawsuits, or obstruction of justice make America great.

Google it. Then, start researching. Watch videos of things he's said and then denied saying. Watch the video of his cabinet meeting where everyone was required to kiss his ass. Research his business history. Research his Russian financial connections that have been going on for years. Branch out and be open to thoughts of others. If you only listen to Trump-based and approved media, you live life in a tunnel.

Hi, one of your links is making Reddit's spam filter very upset for some reason and I am unable to approve your comment (it just goes back to being removed when I approve it).

When did America stop being great again?

It never was. We've always been a pretty horrible country. From the way we treated the natives when whites got here, to lynchings for decades in the south, to overthrowing legitimate governments all over the world, to killing hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians in a war that was started on bald faced lies.

We've never been great. And we're getting worse.
