Kinda disgusting, the ideology driving the GOP and other establishment policymakers

From Wikipedia:

Neoliberalism (neo-liberalism)[1] refers primarily to the 20th-century resurgence of 19th-century ideas associated with laissez-faire economic liberalism.[2]:7 These include extensive economic liberalization policies such as privatization, fiscal austerity, deregulation, free trade, and reductions in government spending in order to increase the role of the private sector in the economy and society.[10]

[–]PrincessOfDrugTacos 1 ポイント2 ポイント  (0子コメント)

That's not the proper use of that meme. Should say, "When you're trump and haven't said ban in 5 minutes". Or give it trump hair and cut out the when you're trump.

I'll give you an upvote for the sentiment though.

They need to, but as a country we're generally too stupid to vote for our own self interests. It makes me so angry to hear people defend the GOP, who has a long history of gerrymandering (yes, dems do too but GOP made it an art form), voter suppression, sexism and misogyny. They pass bills that screw Americans. Trump AND his cohorts are being investigated for committing Felonies with adversarial governments. Yet the US continues to eat shit, smile, and vote these corrupt assholes into office. And instead of reporting on the REAL shit going on (like the GOP all backing a bill selling our privacy to giant corporations without ANY need for consent from the individual), we get articles about 'covfefe', because that's what we as a public care about the most. The worst part about ALL of this is that as a country, I don't believe we're going to learn our lessons from this and it will continue happening until we elect our NEXT Donald Trump 50 years from now. And people DEFEND this fucking asshole and his unnecessary policies despite mounds of empirical evidence that show just how unnecessary and fucking stupid they are. I have been so ashamed of my country these last 9 months.

It wasn't even funny to me. None of this is. The GOP is full of assholes and liars who screw their electorates who are too stupid to realize it's even happening. Then they're allowing this cluster fuck by sticking up for a guy EVERYBODY knows is as crooking as a $6 bill with his face on it, but hey he pretends to be (R) and they need the rubber stamp to pass their shitty legislation. They're a fucking party of whiners. Every time Trump or a (R) points out some dumb shit that the other side is doing, it's almost ALWAYS because they're doing it too. They act like children. The DEMs aren't much better but at least they kind of stand for things that make the world a little bit better place. I think America needs a new form of government. :)

I think Trumpcare is fine, but Republicans need to be made synonymous with Trump. Trump is a dumpster fire with very low approval, let them all in on that action.

      [–]00093293 16 ポイント17 ポイント  (1子コメント)

I guess I shouldn't feel this way, but a while back a Republican was having a town hall thing and he literally ran from the angry mob that had assembled for him... and I laughed my ass off. I'm a centrist and support mostly dems lately, but some repubs too -- but this new flavor of Trump Republicans, this new brand of stupid that our country decided to invent, they can go fuck themselves.

I'm actually glad these assholes are scared of going to these events. Not scared of being physically hurt or anything, just scared of people calling them out in real life. They deserve it, they are literally ruining America, you know, the country they hate and everything.

      [–]Thisnameisdildos 3 ポイント4 ポイント  (0子コメント)

It shouldn't be about party, anyone who is supposed to be a public servant who puts their selfish needs above society should be shit on. It's their entire fucking job.

It just happens that almost all of the GOP is in the same boat.

But corruption can crop up anywhere.

The price of freedom is eternal vigilance.

      [–]thomase7 8 ポイント9 ポイント  (1子コメント)

It doesn't matter. They can't ever use Trump as a scapegoat. At least 30% of republican supporters are brain washed into believing that anything negative about trump is made up. If Republicans blame trump for the healthcare debacle, there will be a civil war within the Republican party, and neither side would be strong enough to take control and compete against Democrats.

For better or worse, Republicans have to keep trump super supporters in the boat, which means never turning on trump.

The only other option is appealing to centrists and moderate Democrats, which Republicans will never do.

      [–]butt_hurt_bernie 0 ポイント1 ポイント  (0子コメント)

Nah, you're overstimating their attention span. Bush was a goddamn war criminal and it took them less than 2 years to get over it.

They may fight against each other, but they will always vote for the magic R. If democrats had any sense, they would support their own party with the same vigor.

      [–]Rayston 2 ポイント3 ポイント  (0子コメント)

      I never agreed to that.

I think it should be linked to Trump, and Republicans in turn should also be linked to Trump.

      [–]bloatedplutocrat 48 ポイント49 ポイント  (5子コメント)

At which point their opponents point out it's their law that is failing to which the GOP replies that it's because the Democrats obstructed them and didn't let them improve it. The GOP constituents cognitive dissonance will help them ignore that the GOP held the legislature and the obstruction is actually what they did to the ACA.

Enough dems will be hurt by the GOP policies to cause them to surge to the polls and take office for eight years allowing them to fix some problems but not all of them. Subsequent purity tests will cause self disenfranchisement and allow the GOP to retake office:

Except, since the GOP are the "good patriots" and the Dems are "dirty commies" when Republicans obstruct it is good and when Democrats do its treason.

The whole fundamental of their party is to ignore logic, reason, rationality, or facts. Any argument against them always comes back to how reality simply does not matter to them, and that you are evil for being against them and will rot in hell.

You couldn't have a party founded on the principal of taking from the many to feed the rich otherwise. You need deeply institutionalized cognitive dissonance or you won't garner enough voters to win elections because for every elite there are a hundred poor who, absent the religion of conservatism's dogma and propaganda machine manipulating them, would tear down their power and influence to better their own lives.

Please stop calling it Trumpcare. When people start to realize how badly this new healthcare legislation hurts them, calling it Trumpcare allows the GOP to pass the buck to Trump and act like they had nothing to do with it. This is Republicare and needs to be recognized as such.

Aside from i'm not sure who said dems are little angels (they aren't) as I can't find that quote here I believe the current problem is how OVERT the GOP is with the whole money>what's best for the country.

Most recent example I can you is the battle for net neutrality, something that a majority of the country is for maintaining regardless of political affiliation. Removing it will cause additional costs for small businesses, prevent startups, and most importantly cause some serious issues with restricting access to information (notably political).

Obama's FCC Chair proposed removing NN neutrality and received the response from the public of "No, don't do that", so he didn't. Trump's FCC Chair proposed removing NN neutrality and received the same and responded by essentially laughing at the public and moving forward.

Corporate interests/influence is a problem in the USA. I honestly think it's ridiculous that citizens mock the other party when the problem is in their own as well. Pick a better image next time where it can't be applied to the entire government.

But next time, I suppose I'll just not participate in a super biased subreddit such as this one.

Maybe because we aren't discussing democrats at the moment, so bringing it up just sounds like a whataboutism tangent. Of course we all agree that both sides have problems, but what you're doing is like going into a Batman subreddit to talk about Spider-Man and then complaining when they downvote you. I'm sure Batman fans can appreciate Spider-Man too, but nobody wants to hear about it in a discussion about Batman. Get it?

Because it's not true? Listen, of course both parties have their hang ups. When you get thousands of people trifling over power, these things happen. But lets not pretend that this is exactly the same. You're being patently absurd and it shows your ignorance on the topic.

Do you know how long "Obamacare" took to pass? How many hearings? Amendments? Discussions on the floor? Months! With both sides heavily involved.

This? This is the Republicans hammering in a one sided bill and backdooring the whole way. The Democrats did not do that with the ACA, whatever you want to believe. So no, they aren't the same.

Yes, that was clumsily worded by her and she's not the anywhere close to the best, but that is a severely truncated and out of context quote and still doesn't address the situations I brought to light.

The multiple BIPARTISAN committees and hearings on ACA. Multiple rewrites and amendments. Months of discussion on the floor. Hundreds of people involved on both sides.

That's not happening here and to say that the situations are the same is disingenuous and again, shows your lack of acumen to comment on this subject.

You're out of your depth, Lou.

You only need to be downvoted enough to not be one of the top comments. I, and a huge part of this country agree with you. Pay for play in our government has been the case for at least a few decades. Through majority Democrat and Republican administrations.

I agree player... this is a very biased sub, full of blame and intolerance. I like to look at a few political subs and unfortunately the ones that lean left are usually the most biased and intolerant... dare I say petty. Not always, not in every single post, but mostly overall from my experience.

Don't call it Trumpcare. I could easily believe that the whole reason Trump ran for office is because he is jealous that the ACA is called "Obamacare." Trump's huge ego couldn't resist and he's dying for it to be replaced by something with his name on it.

Obamacare then. Let's be honest, the ACA was a half assed measure that was also a cash grab for insurance companies. Without a public option and no competition, but a requirement that people buy insurance (wtf?), it completely missed the whole fucking point. In a way I'm glad the President trashed it, so it can come back stronger. Otherwise it would be left to stagnate, because current democrats would never touch it.
