Less than six months after losing his book deal with Simon & Schuster, Milo Yiannopoulos’ self-published Dangerous is set to be a #1 best seller.
The New York Post reported on Saturday that more than 65,000 copies of the book have been ordered in pre-sale. Yiannopoulos said to Red Alert Politics that the book is on track to sell more than 250,000 copies, making it one of the most successful self-published books of all time.
“It’s sold more than 65,000 copies and I haven’t even started a major book publicity tour,” Yiannopoulos told Red Alert Politics. “All I’ve done is some talk radio shows.”
It certainly speaks to the volume and intensity of Yiannopoulos’ base, which often times is belittled and understated by the media. Despite not having appearances on late night TV talk shows and segments on Ellen, the former Breitbart editor’s book is set to nearly match Tina Fey’s hit book Bossy Pants first seven weeks of sales and outsell Amy Schumer, Amy Poehler, and Mindy Kahn, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Schumer received a $9 million advance on her book, ironically published by Simon & Schuster, but it only sold 36,000 hardcover copies in its first week. The only thing that saved it from being a total flop was audiobook sales.
Dangerous, which will officially be released on July 4, includes cultural and political critiques on feminists, #BlackLivesMatter, the alt-right, the media, and establishment Republicans. Yiannopoulos also said that his book publishes the only official account of what happened during the Gamergate controversy ever published in the U.S.
