So when Republicans say their constituents are being "hurt" by Obamacare they mean freelancers and small business owners AKA self-employed.

That's between 4% and 10% of the market depending on the state.http://www.kff.org/other/state-indicator/total-population/?currentTimeframe=0&sortModel=%7B%22colId%22:%22Location%22,%22sort%22:%22asc%22%7D …

Far more of the market -- up to a fifth or even a quarter of the market in each of these states, is covered by Medicaid.
-
What Republicans are doing is pitting that 5-10% of individual market players against the Medicaid population.
-
And they're banking that the 5-10%, the small biz people who don't want to provide healthcare or pay for it vote more than the working poor.
-
Obamacare counted on every state being compelled to expand Medicaid, and Medicaid being the main way health insurance expanded.
-
But 19 Republicans states sued to say no, we won't provide healthcare to that expanded Medicaid population in our states.
-
And the SCOTUS sided with them. So now Senators and congressmen from those non-expansion states ONLY care about the 5-10%.
-
While GOP Senators from expansion state are forced to care about the 20-25% on the Medicaid expansion.
-
And then the fun part: Trumpcare won't just hurt the poor. The 85% who get employer-provided insurance will face lifetime caps, etc. too.
-
If states opt out of essential services, those with employer plans who've gotten used to free annual mammograms will get a big surprise.
-
And the only people laughing will be the top 1 percent and top 0.1 percent, who will get a big, fat tax cut paid for by poor & disabled ppl.
-
It's the ultimate Ayn Randian Republican fantasy: take from the poor to give to the rich. Trump, McConnell and Ryan for the "win."

BC most Americans get their health insurance through their employer, lots via Medicaid, Medicare or Tricare & a small number buy their own.

Dan is right. Insurance cos are in the biz to make money, not to make people healthy. Remove them from equasion and $$$s would be saved.
-
Yes! I've been a long time supporter of inviting the Canadian Insurance Companies in & let's see how fast US Ins. Cos drop their greedy BS
-
only 1 Canadian Insurance co for primary care. It's a single-payer system and the govt is the ins. co. And it works better than US system
-
Yes! Single payer for sure. But we need something like ACA to fund it. I'm in Calif so fingers crossed. GOP will sabotage national plan.
