Banned Books Week, the annual celebration of the freedom to read, will be held the week of September 24th in 2017. For this year’s celebration, the coalition of organizations that sponsors Banned Books Week will emphasize the importance of the First Amendment, which guarantees our inherent right to read.
During 2016 Banned Books Week, Powell's Books in Portland, OR held an event featuring Charles Brownstein, Executive Director of the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund and chair of the Banned Books Week Coalition, authors Cory Doctorow (Information Doesn't Want to Be Free), Cathy Camper (Lowriders to the Center of the Earth), M. K.
