Star Citizen takes out bank loan, puts up entire company and all rights to game as collateral (self.shittykickstarters)

The main point of interest: "Floating charge covers all the property or undertaking of the company." The floating charge is a type of collateral, i.e. the bank will take it if the company defaults on the loan.

This has caused a certain amount of consternation amongst backers who were told that the mountain of cash they spent on preorders of spaceships would be easily enough to develop the entire game with no strings attached. CIG, the developer of Star Citizen, have found that the backers will generally accept them promising release dates which they then push back every year. Coutts may not be so understanding.

It is a good sign. They wont get a loan if they were in bad shape.

In many ways, this is a better sign than if they didn't need a loan

Starting to be glad No Man Sky taught me that lesson of wait and see. Almost bought the Star Citizen starter pack over the last few months but have held off thanks to the butt hurt still being fresh.
