There's a difference between starting a thread that's somewhat political and suddenly saying "oh man I hate Trump" in a discussion about kittens.

One is relevant, the other is just.....needing a place to soapbox, I guess.

Anyway, my point is that there's nothing wrong with something being political as long as the political bit is relevant, which this was. It was a meme. It fit the meme.

Although I'm willing to bet 9/10 of the people complaining don't want Trump made fun of.

Yup I always check their post histories when I see them. Far more often than not people bitching about sub being too political in an anti-trump post are butthurt trumpettes. The few that aren't are non-americans tired of the trump-antitrump flame wars the posts inevitably cause.

Eh, it can suck sometimes. Like, I hated that period when /r/television was getting filled with political posts but thats because the sub is surprisingly sparse on the content I want as-is. I'll never get why that sub gets so little traffic.

What bugs me is that the first guy was just giving a nod to the fact that there are Trump supporters who didn't fall face-first in the kool-aid, and people started giving him shit for it anyway.

It hits close to home, because he's probably closer to my political position than the people who started giving him hell for it, even if we sit on opposite sides of the fence.
