My country requires a piece of ID to vote but gives an ID card for free to all citizens, isn't that how it should be implemented or is it racist and I didn't notice

A lot of countries require a single piece of ID, like a passport, for nearly everything. Usually this process is streamlined because everyone needs to have this thing.

In the US, there’s no such widespread practice, and the thing people use most is a driver’s license.

So there’s the whole register to vote thing, identity theft, etc. It’s no secret that black people in the US almost always vote D for obvious reasons.

Basically what ® NC has been proven to do, they ran a check on what forms of ID black people and other minorities statisically lack, required these, and then made them harder to acquire. It’s suspected that other R states do the same thing. Voter fraud prevented by this is not statisically significant, so it’s not like this was a problem in need of solution.
