2/ The best analogy I can think of is climate change, another phenomenon requiring context + denied by conservatives.

3/ If your whole understanding of climate change is that the Earth is gonna burn up, then getting cold temperatures makes no damn sense.

4/ If the avg. temp for a region has slowly risen over time, it’s easy to deny something larger is at play if you’re still getting snow.

5/ Thus, producing that moronic joke by conservatives: “LOL CLIMATE CHANGE” superimposed on some pic of a heavy snowfall.

6/ Much like climate change, conservatives remain willfully blind to what’s coming: a stark wake-up call in 2018. The numbers don't lie.

7/ GA-06 went for the GOP by 23.4% in Nov. — tonight Ossoff will likely lose it by ~5%, an incredible ~18% shift. That’s stunning.

8/ SC-05 went for the GOP by 20.3% in Nov — tonight Parnell will likely lose by 3.2%, a shift of 17.1%. Also stunning.

9/ This has also been seen in recent special elections: Democrats keeping it razor-thin close in districts the GOP usually dominates.

10/ Still… it can be discouraging, but only if you don’t see it as part of a larger picture. You HAVE to look at the bigger picture.

11/ Special elections, this year, have been in traditionally Republican districts to replace traditionally conservative Congressmen.

12/ These are not just “red” districts. They are some of the reddest of the red. Hardcore, base-of-the-GOP red. Flaming red.

13/ Yet, Dems have pulled miraculous numbers in every special election because of 1) messaging, 2) organizing, and 3) Trump’s unpopularity.

14/ We have scored close calls in districts that no Democrat should ever get close to winning. We have kept it close to the wire.

15/ It would be like a Republican coming close to an upset of a deep blue district in California. A national wake-up call. A red flag.

16/ If Dems are doing this well in rock-solid Republican districts, we are going to sweep every moderate district in 2018. It will happen.

17/ THAT is why I’m happy tonight. I’m excited. Trump folks? They don’t get it, and I’m not surprised.

18/ Trump folks are like children who need instant gratification. They see a win tonight. They don’t see the trouble the GOP is facing.

19/ Every Republican strategist is poring over these numbers trying to figure out how they’re going to mitigate Trump’s damage.

20/ Republican strategists, smart folks who know the numbers, are not celebrating tonight. They know they need some kind of miracle.

21/ Trump folks? They see the snowfall. The visual. Like a coloring book. They don’t see the thermometer. Why is it getting hotter?
