Where in the world would you most like to visit?
Oh, hmm. That’s tough. Given that my preferences for where to be are almost entirely dominated by who I can spend time with there, probably Boston, given the high density of people who want to hang out with me.
If knowing people weren’t a factor and I was just going by awesomeness of a location, probably Istanbul, because I’m a Turkish fangirl and Istanbul is SO CITY OH MY G-D. The city centre is denser than Manhattan; there are 52 museums (12 with free entry with a museum pass - including the Hagia Sophia); 20 centuries, 2 continents, and a dozen cultures worth of architecture; etc. Also, Istanbul is a sexy city.
However, as far as I can tell, I don’t have any readers from Turkey. (Going both on the lack of “Turkey” responses on my survey, and the lack of people seeing my posts on Turkish language/music and being like “Hey, I’m Turkish!”.) That’s too bad, because I expect I’d get faaar less out of visiting a city without knowing anyone than I would if I knew people, so it probably wouldn’t be worth it compared to objectively less interesting cities like Cleveland. (Of course, if I actually do have Turkish followers, please prove me wrong!)
Anyway, to answer your question: Boston, in practice. However, if I find a way to recruit Turkish readers, Istanbul (and Izmir and Ankara) would shoot up the list.
