What's wrong with actively trying to surpress your inherent biases and try to treat everyone as an individual and not make judgments on them based on race or gender? Isn't that the society we want to live in, where people's race and gender truly do not matter?

the problem is that willful ignorance is not the solution to social issues. that leads to people feeling as if their identity is being glossed over and homogenizes them. differences should be celebrated and not ignored

Oh I don't mean completely ignoring differences, I mean as far as shit that matters.

Like, don't make assumptions about people because of their race/gender. Don't give anyone special treatment. That kind of thing.
