It's customary the WH, Pentagon, State Dept, releases statements saying ldrs are aware/monitoring situations. Only Navy did, for hrs.

It's normal for Pentagon - at first- to make reporters talk to services, who have better info (Navy wreck? talk to Navy; Army? Call Army)
