Firefighters get tired of Paramedics calling them names, try to create their own subreddit. Paramedics use /r/redditrequest to request ownership of the new subreddit. (self.SubredditDrama)

THE THREAD IN QUESTION

In the real life public safety world, there is a bit of contention in the United States (and now Canada) on whether fire services should be administering emergency medical care. Most of those on /r/EMS believe that the fire service has taken over emergency medical services to stay relevant and fight budget cuts. They believe this leads to firefighters who don't want to administer care, but are forced to, making them do the bare minimums and compromise patient care.

Fire based EMS providers refute these claims, however as a minority of /r/EMS, are often hazed by the others. This has created a revolt; and the firefighters have decided to use /r/fireEMS as their new home. The problem with this is, the owner of the subreddit is inactive, and there are no moderators. As such, multiple Paramedics from /r/EMS have requested ownership of the subreddit to effectively take over the subreddit.

Just do what they did in Fahrenheit 451. They nearly put firemen out of a job after making buildings out of fireproof materials, so they just changed their task!

Working on both sides of the fence here, I really think the only thing that gets in the way of patient care on scene is a lack of communication, over-inflated egos, and inability to determine who is in charge on scene.

This is too reasonable and makes too much sense. I expected worse/better.
