Senate Republicans do not plan to publicly release a draft of their healthcare bill before voting on it and submitting it to the Congressional Budget Office, two senior aides for Senate Republicans told Axios on Monday. “We aren’t stupid,” one aide told the digital news outlet, adding that Republican lawmakers may continue to work on the bill even after the draft is completed. “We are still in discussions about what will be in the final product so it is premature to release any draft absent further member conversations and consensus.” Democrats have criticized their GOP counterparts for the secrecy of their drafting process. It is unclear when the Senate will vote on the bill, although Republicans reportedly hope to vote before going into recess on July 4.
