Stephen King Blocked By The Tweeter In Chief; Veterans Group VoteVets Also Blocked From President’s Account

Stephen King has been using his Twitter feed to harshly criticize Donald Trump for well over a year and now it seems as though the President of the United States has taken enough abuse from the acclaimed horror novelist, blocking King from access to the @RealDonaldTrump Twitter feed.

Early Tuesday morning, Stephen King posted a tweet making fun of a Trump administration cabinet meeting that took place on Monday where all of Trump’s cabinet members were instructed to say something good about Donald Trump.

“Trump’s cabinet offers a postgraduate-level course in a**-kissing,” Stephen King tweeted.

According to the New York Times, the cabinet meeting Stephen King referred to involved the members of Trump’s administration taking turns to heap praise on Donald Trump. Mike Pence started everything off.

“The greatest privilege of my life is to serve as vice president to the president who’s keeping his word to the American people,” Mike Pence said.

The members of Trump’s cabinet followed in a display that has been described as highly unusual, with some commentators comparing it to something you’d see in a dictatorship like North Korea.

“We thank you for the opportunity and the blessing to serve your agenda,” said White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus.

“It was a great honor traveling with you around the country for the last year, and an even greater honor to be here serving on your cabinet,” said Steven Mnuchin, Trump’s Treasury secretary.

The president even heaped praise on himself during the meeting.

“I will say that never has there been a president, with few exceptions — in the case of F.D.R. he had a major Depression to handle — who’s passed more legislation, who’s done more things than what we’ve done,” Donald Trump said. “We’ve been about as active as you can possibly be, and at a just about record-setting pace.”

A few hours after tweeting about the Trump cabinet meeting, Stephen King tweeted again, this time in mock distress over the news that he seemed to have been blocked by Donald Trump’s Twitter account.

King then tweeted again, asking his followers if any of them had been blocked by Trump.

In fact, Stephen King is definitely not alone. Numerous Twitter users have been blocked by Donald Trump in recent weeks. According to the Hill, the Trump Twitter account recently blocked a popular veteran’s group, VoteVets from access to his account.

In fact, Stephen King is a bit late to the party. According to Wired, last week a group called Knight First Amendment Institute sent a letter to Donald Trump threatening a lawsuit in response to his practice of blocking people from access to his Twitter account on the grounds that his use of Twitter constitutes a public forum, thereby denying citizens their right of free speech if they are blocked access.

Being blocked from Donald Trump’s Twitter account will likely only embolden Stephen King in his relentless criticism of the President. With a number of new projects on the way, such as a film of the Stephen King classic The Dark Tower and a new adaptation of his novel It that looks terrifying, we are likely to be hearing a lot more from Stephen King in the coming months.
