Welcome home, world traveler. Yes, it certainly has been fun, and you did something many talk about but few actually accomplish. I'm glad to see you arrived home safely. Oh, thanks for the card from Nepal. It arrived Saturday. It must have traveled here by boat. You got home almost before it got here.

If you have any more trekking plannned, please take us with you. Thank you again for sharing your adventures with an eager audience.

P.S.--Scott, I didn't see the link the first time. Smarty. That was a very clever use of the world map.

I'm pretty sure LiveJournal actually does that automatically. Whatever you type in the location field, it links to a google maps search.

You survived. And you had fun. That's wildly beyond my expectations. Congratulations!
Though don't get complacent. Just because you went around the world and kept us all up to date with funny, witty and often shocking LJ posts doesn't mean we won't expect posts of the same quality about your ordinary life. >:D
(Though to be fair having read your journal for a while before the trip I can say with some certainty that yours is hardly an ordinary life!)

It wasn't when I was in Japan, maybe. The next few years, however, are going to be spent living at 123 Boredom Street, Boredom City, Boringshire.

Hmmm. Are you, in fact, home yet? Because if so, that would be the first time in many a long year that we were both within hailing distance of one another AND both aware of the fact at the same time. In fact, it would be the first time ever. Let me know! :)

Yes, I am in Irvine, about an hour south of Los Angeles.

There's no real reason I couldn't go to San Fransisco, except that I'm really, REALLY sick of traveling and just want to spend some time at home now. If you're there for another month, I might be persuaded to change my mind by mid-August.

But I'd recommend you come down here. Southern California's quite different from the northern half and well worth seeing, especially if you're interested in beaches, movies, or any of that sort of thing. Do you have a flight back yet? LA-Dublin flights are legendarily cheap - Aer Lingus has them for something like 300 euros sometimes. You could come down here when you're ready to fly back, stay at my place for a few days, and then let me give you a ride to the airport.

Hmmmm, intriguing. I do have a flight back booked already from San Francisco, alas. But I might well take you up on the offer to visit for a few days, assuming I can do that with my job, and that I could get back easily.

I'll be here until September 21, so we should definitely get a chance to meet at least. I'd name this plan after an ocean-going entity, but you have that market covered. :)

Glad you got back and had such a fascinating experience - it was really amazing to keep up with your blog posts and follow you around the world.

Okay. Well, tell me when you've got some time then. Looks like the bus is $90 return or so, which isn't great but is okay. Or I could try to talk my parents into planning a family trip to visit relatives up there :)

Do you have a job now? What are you doing? I haven't heard much from you lately.

welcome back!

congratulations!

you managed to make it back home without catching anything you won't get over! you're doing better than a lot of people, on that particular score....

and i second the "THANKS!" for the postcard from nepal. i will add it to my treasured stack of nifty postcards from interesting places, and dream of what it's like to actually be able to go those places on two good legs.

thanks twice. =)

more fun and games

I think maybe after you rest up we all should have a fundraiser and send you off somewhere else so we can read your pithy comments ;-) Is it time for Grad School? I'm that lurking Hamtech parent.
