Fucking gold, im playing new game plus and that's still my favorite part of the game

Can someone explain please?

Only slightly familiar with Witcher as I never wound up finishing it. What part of the game are you referring to?

Edit: to those of you encouraging me to finish - I bought the game for Xbox One when I was in between apartments and staying in a hotel with terrible Internet. Now that I'm back with my sweet sweet fios, I can't bring myself to play console.

How does this game play with mouse and keyboard? To me, it seems like it might feel a bit unrefined/clunky compared to using a controller. And I don't like using a controller when I'm playing PC, it's a weird quirk of mine.

Thoughts about using mouse and keyboard?

Geralt has a lot of phrases he just says on adventures. One of my favourites is "Looks like rain." when it's already fucking pouring. Now go and finish that masterpiece!

Also how Geralt is never completely sure this humming, glowing rock with a sign on it, is really a place of power, despite seeing hundreds in his time.

Geralt- "...should draw from it."

... I stopped playing because I was just so drained. Story is heavy. I didn't think I was ready for however it was going to end. You know? Just doing side quests was hard emotionally. I couldn't imagine the end.

EDIT: folks, relax. I went back and beat it.

And sobbed like a man.

It's great when you get the bad ending and have to start over because your heart is broken and there's a void to fill.

My brother got that. I got lucky and didn't greet the bad ending. I thought I got the bad ending, but it turns out I didn't, in the end. Which was nice

I had to load an old save. The ending I got was so sad! Fuck the Crones.

Oh the Crones. Possibly the single most fascinating and yet disturbing characters I've ever seen in any game.

When they were in human female form drinking blood and shit, I was surprisingly turned on.

Me and my friend were playing the game at the same time. Both choosing different choices on purpose. And we both got to the ending. He told me his. The good one. And I was like "..... I did not get that...." and he was so shocked as I explained to him how it all went down.

Similar experience with me and one of my coworkers, he didn't really enjoy the game and I was still playing it at the time and couldn't for the life of me figure out why. Finally finished it and was talking about the finale and he was shocked when I started talking about the good ending, turned out he had got the bad ending, thought that was the only ending and it really affected his opinion of the game.

Can confirm. I got the worst ending IMO, and ended up alone as well, even after attempting to end up with Triss at the end. I'm sorry that my Geralt was such a horndog...

Edit: Not even sure why I wrote "IMO". It was literally the worst ending overall other than my Skellige choice being the one I'd actually pick in a vacuum.

The ending of both the base game and the Blood and Wine DLC are depending on your choices. The Hearts of Stone DLC (minor gameplay, non-story spoiler)only has some very important (but small) choices near the end.

The game is so much fun, just go for it. If you haven't touched the DLCs yet you aren't even at 25% completion. The main story line is the worst of the three IMO.

Both Blood and Wine and Hearts of Stone are amazing, the stories are amazing, probably even better. Eredin was such a bad villain compared to both villains of HoS&BaW.

Took me 6 months to do the main quest. Just finished the other night. I was playing a couple hours a week. Did a lot of side questions, was about 80 odd hours. Really looking forward to the DLCs. Love this game.

Dude...the fact that the story/game has that much of an impact on you IS THE REASON to follow it through to the end. It becomes a piece of you and resides in your mind/heart and makes you think about it even when you are nowhere near your game console. It transcends it's own world. It's art. It's amazing. Open yourself up to that experience.

What the...

Sir, I'm going to have to ask you to get back to whatever gaming console you use, and play The Witcher 3. It is honestly, IMO, one of the greatest games ever, ESPECIALLY for the story. I'm just praying we will get sequels

No sequels pertaining to Geralt from what I gather, but the world of the Witcher isn't going to remain untouched.

In response to your edit about the M&K controls. They take some getting used to, but are by no sense of the words clunky or unrefined, you may remember the first two games, which were both clunky and unrefined. They fixed that. Its nice. I'd also implore you to play the game, it is one of my favourites and well worth the story alone even.

Your edit makes you sound so fucking over-complicated, god damn. Won't play on console because you like PC graphics, won't use controller on PC because it's "quirky" and you feel the PC controls might be wonky. Huh?

Yea, some can but the vast majority cannot. IIRC, Triss isn't infertile but Yen is . Something to do with the fact that, while maturing, the magic that sorceresses interact with and use on their bodies affects the womb and usually fucks it up. I don't think Ciri went through the full magic mutations of sorceresses or witchers so she should be good, and like the other commenter said, Geralt's mom was a sorceress so obviously she didn't have the infertility issue either.

Isn't mentioned that she likely still is, her looks now are just am illusion?

I believe Trish has horrible burns on her face as well.

It's actually fixed. It's not an illusion. When she was accepted into magic school as a kid the headmistress Tissaia de Vries used higher magic to correct her spine and shoulderblade. It's sort of like how we employ surgery to correct scoliosis in kids using titanium pins, rods, and fusing vertebrae. They just use the science/medicine of magic. Later on, after mages graduate from school they use magic to stop their aging process. Sorcerers usually go for a mature look so they stop it in their 30-40s. Sorceresses usually stop it in their 20s. What you see is how they really are.

I don't think so... I've only read the first few books (short story ones and first of the 5 book saga) but what I've read only has some very small snippets of his memories in Kaer Morhen and some from before (like fragmented memories of his mother)

I'm early on in Time of Contempt. Nothing yet really, just some slight mentioning of him being a street rat like all the others (Lambert, Coen, ext) that Vessimir brought back for training. Keep in mind some are old af. Vessimir is mentioned as probably close to 300.

Hell, Phillipa Eilheart is supposed to be like 900.

Triss is a super nice, but its easy to tell from the dialogue and just about all the quests that Yen is a much better match.

She and Geralt banter and have way more fun together and it is way better to watch.

...but yeah. I picked Triss before the Djinn quest. I would've picked Yen if I had done it first, fun character beats attractive redhead.

I dunno, I think it depends on what you're looking for. Geralt says it's nice that he can have someone he can totally relax around with Triss. Yen, not so much.

I dumped my savegame to the point before I decided for Triss and played the part again. Triss is just a bitch that manipulates Geralt. Yen loves him.

It depends on how much you want to project yourself on Geralt the most I think. Yen is definitely best suited lore-wise, but she's also regularly unlikable. I think if you popped most people right into the game and they had to stick with their choice for life, they'd go Triss, but then truthfully, the real Geralt doesn't mind Yens BS too much. I would XD

Geralt might have had amnesia, but Triss didn't. She knew she was taking advantage of his amnesia to sleep with one of her best friend's partner. She knew he was in love with Yen, yet she chose not to say anything and pursued a relationship with him.

She's really quite nasty when you think about it.

Not to mention that in the books she was complicit with Phillipa and the Lodge's plan to lie to Ciri and Geralt so they would believe Yen was a traitor and then potentially even kill Geralt all in order to better control Ciri for their own political purposes. Edit: words

To be fair, no one told Geralt about Yen. Not only Triss, but Vesemir, Lambert, Eskel, Dandelion and Zoltan didn't. My guess why is because they all assumed Yen was dead given the state Geralt was found in, and didn't see the point in reminding Geralt of her.

And besides, in Witcher 2 Triss was crucial in him getting his memory back (including remembering Yen). And she was also still the first person who told him about Yen (after he asked about her after partially remembering his death, granted).

Don't get me wrong, what Triss did by romancing him when he had amnesia is still a crappy thing, but she did it because she loved him and I think her actions in W2 show she grew beyond that behavior in a positive way.

Both Triss and Yen have done crappy things, but like I said about Triss, they both grow throughout the franchise and are both good people. It's a huge credit to the writers for pulling that growth off in such a cool way.

I don't feel like Triss particularly had the best of intentions during the Witcher 2. I played it recently, and there was this one line where Geralt asks about his past, and Triss tells him he had an unhealthy relationship with Yennefer. It's something that stuck out to me while playing the game.
