I wonder why I haven’t seen mentioned, in discussions of tone policing, the fact that some people have trauma such that having people behave aggressively toward them can completely FREAK. THEM. OUT. I feel like this is an important trade off to consider when making the decision not to tone police in a given space. I assume someone has brought this up before, but I haven’t seen it myself.
