With the flag chrome://flags/#disable-new-bookmark-apps enabled you can add web pages to your Chrome App Launcher. This allows quick access to launching your favourite sites. It is very easy to use and setup using the following guide:
- Open Chrome
- Enter the following into your Chrome Omnibox (address bar)
chrome://flags/#disable-new-bookmark-apps
- Select Enable
- Reboot Chrome
You are now ready to use the Bookmark App System
- Navigate to a favourite webpage (for this example I will go to Reddit)
- Click on the Burger Menu in the top right at the end of the Omnibox
- Select More Tools
- Select Add to Applications
You will now have the following options
- Change the name of the Bookmark App
- Open in Window
If you choose to open in a window then the Bookmark App (webpage) will open in its own window without any access to the Chrome Omnibox or extensions. If you do not check this box then it will open as a normal webpage in the Chrome browser. Once you have made any changes you want select OK and the bookmark will be available from your Chrome App Launcher.
You can add as many of these shortcuts as you want. A nice alternative to browsing through your bookmarks page.
