All this game has done is show how important the first impressions of a new IP is. They lost people's trust with the first installment, and that's what people will remember most. Despite the sequel fixing damn near every issue the first had and over all being a damn good game, it over all won't matter. They lost the trust of the players.

I realize nobody is arguing with you but I still feel the need to back you up by admitting to being that guy. I played the first one and liked it at first but got bored really quickly and didn't even check out 2.

But I'm looking now, if it's any consolation

It's worth it for the campaign alone.

Absolutely. I would have gladly paid $20 just for the campaign. It's easily the best single player shooter I've played in years (alongside Doom).

Campaign+multiplayer for that price is amazing. Definitely my favorite shooter right now, even after the first one pretty much bombed on PC.

Also they drop not just balancing updates but new maps and even a new titan, for free, not for another $20, not if you have the season pass. Plus, the devs and community over at r/titanfall is great, devs are responsive and care about the community.

Edit: One of the devs is Hyper, the guy who gave us reload gems like this

The "DLC" being free is awesome for sure. Definitely something they've done right with this game that I miss from games released in the late 90's/early 2000's.

There's no need for the quotation marks. DLC is Downloadable Content. Just because it's free doesn't mean it's not DLC.

You're right, but I see it as content updates along with patches. Still technically DLC, but it's mandatory if you're playing multiplayer.

I'd say the best part is the stuff that you can buy affects the game only aesthetically.

Plus the longer i can go without orgin on my pc the better.

Shit, they also didn't market it. I'm 27, and 10 years ago I was plugged into IGN and practically beating off to new CoD news. Today I'm still relatively informed about new releases. Point is, today I have less time to be reading about what's coming out but more income to actually buy new games. I'm a pretty choice demographic to sell a $60 multiplayer shooter with giant robots to.

The first time I even heard of Titanfall 2 was when I saw something promoting it on a bag of Doritos or something similar at a gas station. Looked to my buddy and said "I didn't know they were making a Titanfall sequel". Turns out the game had been out for 3 months.

Still the only marketing I've seen for it.

Well the beta certainly didn't help. When that was released, long time Titanfall players didn't like the changes to the game. Iirc it felt slower and sluggish, and the maps weren't really designed well with wall running in mind.

A lot of that was changed before release, and post release as well but the damage was already done.

Personally, I think I am done with multiplayer games that can provide uneven fighting conditions for new players and veteran players. The difference between having a perk like map hack and not can be pretty damned frustrating for new players who are already at a disadvantage with map and mechanic knowledge.

Most of the OP shit in Titanfall 2 is unlocked by default, intentionally. Map hack is good, but Amped weapons is generally considered the best boost, and is available at level 1.

At this point getting titanfall only to stop playing it two weeks after release seems like a titanfall tradition.

I have never heard any animosity towards the first game from gamers. It didn't sell very well but all I heard was how great and fun it was.

the only complaint was it wasnt worth the price for just multiplayer. post "orange box" its pretty hard to make the case for a $60 multiplayer only game with such little actual content.

I thought it was a decent game, but it felt...empty?

Like killing a ton of bots just isn't fun, IMO. It needed like double the amount of players in a match.

Add in the lack of content and low playerbase and it made the problem worse.

It sold about 20% of the copies that the first game did. Despite being almost universally well reviewed and well liked by the community, nobody bought it on release. I really hope it has a renaissance in the way that Rainbow 6 Siege did.

It's that and not having Frontier Defense in on launch. What the fuck were they THINKING? The fact that FD isn't going to be in until a year later... just like... the first title is insane.

For those wanting the co-op only mode: You should just hold off until the game is $5 in the fall. Maybe then the co-op mode will be out. mumble grumble bought on launch for that hoping it'd be populated mumble grumble

Oh man I didn't know there was going to be co-op! I bought it for the campaign, lost one MP match, and set the title down, satisfied. I'll be thrilled to pick it up again.

this!

i skipped it for exactly this reason, now its just because its on origin only. i have enough services running in the background i don't need more bloat on my system.

im not about to install 20 different store programs from each individual publisher just for one or two games.

then there is the fact it was under EA which is a garbage fire of a company that i don't want to give ANY money to.

So don't set origin to launch when windows does? I mean, I get not wanting more services than necessary running when I turn my computer on but it's not like you can't keep it from doing that.

I agree that origin was awful when it first released, but it really isn't that bad now. Also, EA isn't nearly as awful as it was a few years ago.

its easier to write out a complaining post than to turn off origin at startup clearly.

No kidding. I mean, I understand wanting every game on one storefront, but that isn't going to happen. Setting origin to not start with Windows is such a trivial reason to not play such a great game.

Actually, I loved the first Titanfall, but playing the betas and free weekends of tf2 made me realize how much I don't like the controls in the sequel. That's why I didn't get it. It didn't feel as good, to me, as the first game.

The early betas had a really gimped movement system, which they altered dramatically for the release game thanks to fan input. I didn't play nearly as much of TF1 but the movement system is honestly much faster than TF1 thanks to power slides.

It also didn't help that this was like, literally the only EA game that didn't have a trial available with EA Access and the beta was much worse than the full game. It's understandable but considering how much flak the beta got you'd think they'd be all over a trial for a game that's mostly multiplayer. Not to mention throwing it between battlefield one and cod 4 remastered. I really don't understand what the fuck ea was thinking.

If they made the game available on steam they would have had much more success. I just tried to find and pay for it but couldn't because I'm not making the mistake of installing origin again.

because I'm not making the mistake of installing origin again

I had no previous experience with origin until like 2 months ago when I gave into le titanjerk and bought this game. Downloading installing and setting up an account took like 5 minutes or something, and I have zero gripes with any part of its UI. I don't really use the overlay but it seems at least "ok".

I genuinely do not understand the hate for origin/uplay(maybe a little for uplay), both of them seem to do what they are designed for reasonably well and are minimally obtrusive.

All that being said I would love for all of my games to be through steam for the sake of convenience and familiarity

Origin is better now, but people still don't like having to log into two different systems to play/buy games

Uplay on the other hand is utter shit, every time I've tried to use it I've had to reinstall several times, mess with dll files because it tells me I can't connect to the internet. I leave it alone for an hour and then it works... Pretty sure their forum tells you to forward ports 80 and 443 to your computer... (Never do that!)

The worst part is I log into steam, buy a game, but then if I want to play it, even offline, I have to login to shitty U-cant-play

might I ask why you should not forward those ports to your computer? I think league might also tell you to do that

Unless you have firm security protocols on your computer, League will not require you to open any ports

They're the default web ports. Which means you just exposed your computer to the millions of bots crawling the web looking for vulnerabilities... You sure your system doesn't have any?

Basically it means anything listening on those ports could be accessed from anywhere in the world.

If you never do anything outside of video games you are probably ok, but if you installed any kind of application that lets you accept traffic on those ports it goes from being a harmless LAN page to accessible to those people who scan the whole IPv4 range.

TLDR: people from Russia/China could get access to your computer

Steam, UPlay, Origin and GoG Galaxy. 4, there are 4 different logins I have to play all my games.

Granted GoG Galaxy is optional but fuck it I'm 3 deep why not?

When I first tried these two services, both went down and I couldn't play the games I had signed up with the services for. They were down for a few days to a week, I think, and when I finally got into the game, the UI/launch situation was so cluttered in extra purchase crap that I just never came back (I think Uplay was the worst about this).

I tried uPlay and it was clunky for me, but Origin has been fine. The UI is straightforward enough and there haven't been any real issues.

I use origin, but my biggest problem with origin is that their security is sub par. My origin account has been hijacked multiple times in the 5 years I've had it while by comparison my steam account has never been hacked and my uplay account has been hacked only once.

The hacker has always been some russian who just wants to play my games(I don't have any payment info saved so they can't spend my money), but that doesn't make the fact that someone across the world is accessing my account ok.

I will say origin's customer service was great, but I may have gotten lucky with who I got on the phone

I've been an Origin user as long as it's existed and have never had an account intrusion. Are you using the same login information everywhere? That might be your issue if your security questions were scraped from whatever website it was that let your info out there.

That happened to me too. I logged into Uplay after abandoning the Division for a few months and there was a second character on my account. The language has also been changed to Russian.

This is the third title I'm not buying because it requires origin.

Edit: to the people asking why I refuse to use origin.

Origin pricing is retarded.

It's an EA product, so I'm spiteful against it to begin with after all the games I've bought from them [relatively] recently that have turned out to be complete unfinished dogshit.

It's just one more thing that has to run in the background to consume compute resources when steam is simply the accepted platform. Steam has way more features, has most of the bugs ironed out, and is supported by thousands of titles. Why Origin, UPlay, and the other dogshit launchers (battlenet launcher bugs me but it's not complete dogshit) even exist is simply the result of the corporate overlords of those publishing houses declaring that they want to install their marketing-ware on your computer so every time you start your computer their adds show up on your screen with new DLC you can buy that should have been included in the base game.

There are loads of good games coming out from many different publishers. It's unfortunate for me that I will never play titanfall 2, because it looks cool, but I am actively choosing not to buy it because I have been burned by EA too many times, and I refuse to install EA software on my computer as a result of that. This includes their games and Origin.

That link to origin deleting the games actually has the resolution that nothing was deleted, but rather origin changed the install path and didn't detect the files. The user was able to find the data.

Origin deletes games from your account that you paid for.

Uhh... if you read that thread, Origin didn't actually delete the games, they got moved to another folder and the client just needed to be restarted.

I just read the second link you posted and they guy says his files weren't deleted - just moved to a different part of the drive so origin couldn't see them. Am I missing something?

You clearly didn't read your link.

Origin maybe changed the installation folder, and this poster got it fixed.

Except for the smaller library, and stupidly high pricing. That still exists.

Not to mention the lack of community features and no controller navigation (uPlay even has that). I use Origin now and again, but I don't get why people find it superior to Steam.

and for some reason origin is more resource intensive than steam, which is totally bonkers considering it has less things in it

better than steam

That's some statement! Steam has a ridiculously large library of games (over 10,000 games as well as other software) compared to Origin. There are frequent Steam sales that offer these games at much better prices than Origin and other platforms do on their sales. Steam has a vast community and great customer support compared to the other digital distribution platforms.

In what ways is Origin better?

Origins functionality is way ahead of steam... Its a better looking program, easier to navigate(steams new layout is atrocious as far as I'm concerned, if i wanted a console style dashboard/homescreen id go play on a console), I can play games that arnt even finished downloading. I can actually contact support and get a solution, which is miles ahead of steam where you just hope you can get even an automated response after 3 months. If both programs shared the same game library it would be a nocontest, because the customer support alone would bury steam.

A lot of origin sales are on par with steam now, compare the sales.of call of duty and Ubisoft games to the sales of BF and other origin games and they are very similar sales %. and of those 10000 games on steam, like 85% of them are steaming piles of early access broken garbage that shouldn't exist at all. Steam has plagued the game market with shitty games, at least origin/EA doesn't actively spread those diseases.

If steam removed the piles of garbage from their platform I might like them again, but I'm sick of swimming through the piles to find the few decent games that get released. 0 quality control by valve. None whatsoever.

I think they mean the client is better. Steam has a near-monopoly on games and the full rights to screw over the people who buy and/or sell the games sold on it. Basically the same as Origin, except Origin has a much better return policy and customer service, and only sells a smaller, curated(published by them) selection of games. It's basically what most people want Steam to be except EA owns it and it sells EA games so by default it must be shit. Origin also CLEARLY HAS SALES just like Steam, see the post you are commenting in, but unlike Steam it doesn't have tens of thousands of variable-quality(to put it mildly) games to put on sale, it just has its few.

Now I'm not saying you should "switch" to origin or some shit like that. Steam has a fucking Monopoly and I hate it and I wish Steam wasn't what it was but I use it. I just want to say that most arguments against Origin in favour of Steam are ridiculous and/or false, and that a client is far from an excuse not to pick up a game that you like to play or support. The client works and feels good, even if I don't agree that it's a better user experience than Steam(the in-game overlay needs work and the window doesn't auto-resize the way I like) but it's faster than Steam most of the time for me anyway.

And for those of you who "don't want to install another client" or some shit because clients are ruining the gaming world by competing with steam and adding stuff to your computer, I'd still much rather keep my game collection in a few clients that automatically update my games when I want them to and keep my shortcuts organized than go back to the days where I had hundreds of desktop icons, or folders for all the different games, and if I wanted to update something I had to do it manually. To me clients are practically an objective improvement to gaming, especially GOG galaxy.

Go ahead and buy games you want, how you want. Don't get carried away by fucking hate bandwagons bandying about arguments you haven't given a second's thought to and give a shit about where your money goes. If you issue is with supporting EA, fine, have fun, but the fact that Steam is doing its best and has practically succeeded at controlling the life of PC gaming isn't a reason to say that anything competing with it, or living alongside it, is shit.

Origin is functional, but no way would I ever consider it better than Steam. Besides, sounds like this guy's bigger issue is with EA in general, and I can get behind that. Fuck them.

To be fair, Origin didn't delete the games. Some update moved the game install folder and a bug failed to update the path.

Shouldn't happen, but it's in no way a deal breaker level of a bug.

edit: post above removed the link I was referring to

I do not get the big deal about installing Origin. I have Steam, GoG Galaxy, Battlenet, and Origin on my PC and all of them work fine. Sure, Origin had its problems in the beginning but then so did Steam.

I'm pretty sure that this is the number one reason the first game failed. Launching a brand new IP on anything but steam is bound to cause a loss in sales. Mass effect and Battlefield get away with it because they're huge names.

Bill Nye once appeared on an Origin commercial and claimed it was "the future of gaming". It made me reconsider everything else he's ever told me. I'm now a registered Republican and a climate change denier.

I don't understand the hate towards origin.

I've had steam for over 10 years with a few dozen games and have had origin since it was released.

I have no issues with origin and will fully admit that yes, steam is better. But origin isn't as bad as you make it out to be and it will never be a reason why I don't purchase a game.

Yes, if it's available on steam I'd rather have it on steam.

I'm pretty sure that is also not true. On Metacritic alone the public rating is pretty high, but that is useless. Setting that aside, Titanfall 2 was easily one of the most well received game last year. It has a 4.5/5 stars on the PS4 store and a 4.7/5 on the Microsoft store. I honestly don't see how one could go higher here.

It's easy to read reviews and say it's got tons of popularity but then you play online with the same 150 people over and over again that play literally only one of the game types over and over again. It launched with too many other big multiplayer FPS games. It was well received but ignored by the gaming community on the whole. I bet Pubg has more players than Titanfall by far.

I get wanting more people to play, it's great and could be amazing, but the playerbase just seems small and queuing anything besides attrition seems basically impossible.

Can only find it for $40

That sounds fantastic! Until you realize it's not on Steam...

Now don't get me wrong, I don't mind the odd non-Steam game now and then. But if you're launching a major title that you want to make a buck on, you're going to do the right thing and put that fucker on Steam. Even Ubisoft knows this. That's why you can buy RS:S on Steam.

I enjoyed the first one. Couldn't get into this one. Beat the campaign which was decent. The MP is the same ol "I shot this guy 7573848 times and didn't die but he shot me once and I died" mess. Played it for a couple weeks and went to BF1 and back to Destiny.

They messed up MP in 2 but dang if that single player wasn't fun.

The maps that were in the new game seemed less wall running friendly. I forget the map name but the one in the beta that had a huge open field to both left and right side and then two bases in the middle lane.

That map just felt like a cod map that didn't have many great opportunities for wall running.

You had to go out of your way to wall running the map, compared to some tf1 maps where you could just wall run at any point in the map for fun or to get somewhere quicker.

I think despite being a good game Titan Fall 2 is just going to be where it is. Just because the company didn't include the bane of modern gaming in it doesn't automatically make it a classic or worthy of playing.

A good game can still be boring or repetitive and from what I've seen of the game it looks like the issue is the gameplay draws in a very niche player base.

Your game can be insanely fun for a small group of people but that isn't going to help it become more popular, such is the life of such games.

I wonder how much EA pays to have these put on the front page?

How long does this game have to stay dead for people to stop constantly whining about me not buying it?

yeah but you gotta install origin. that's the real price.

I'm 37 and haven't bought an EA game since Simcity 2013. I'm still angry about that game, my experience with Origin, and will never pay a dime to EA again unless they somehow redeem the Simcity franchise (unlikely).

I agree, it's an excellent game, i've played it at friend's houses. Excuse on my end: I can't afford it

This has been your daily reminder that TF2 is a good game. Check in at 12 for the Witcher 3 forecast.

Not really sure who is underrating it. Certainly not people on reddit since there's been non-stop circle jerking and any criticism gets roundly downvoted.

The game is shit. It's a console shooter and should have remained there. It has no place on PC.

The Titanfall circlejerk is out of fucking control. If the game was so damn good you wouldn't be begging people to play. This screams of marketing guy posting every 2-3 days.

How hard is it to just post yourself playing or something and just say "See, it's good!"

[–]PM_ME_A_PLANE_TICKET 9 ポイント10 ポイント  (0子コメント)

it's an EA game... I stopped giving them money years ago.

It's $20 right now? Fuck, I gotta get out of bed then

Go buy it. Go play. Get your ass rekt. I bought it after release and what's left there now is a bunch of people who are going to make you uninstall.

Yeah I judge all my purchases on the release date. Wtf are you talking about?

Why is this game praised when COD was heavily criticised for its wall running/flying/bionics well before it came out? Is it just a big ol' circlejerk?

CoD AW was released after Titanfall. Then BO3 followed it on.

It still doesn't really explain why COD was told no one wants it, then Titanfall 2 was all over the front page for months

Guys, okay, for real, calm down for a minute: Origin isn't terrible. Yeah you can only get EA games and yes, Steam is better, but dude, this game is amazing. Literally just close Origin when you're done playing, this game is only getting better, we keep pushing more attention for Titanfall because ITS REALLY FUCKING GOOD.

I want it, but are there more than 8 peeps playing on PC?

Man, these pop up a lot. I didn't enjoy the first one, so no thanks.

Under rated? I tried the game and it felt so cheap. Like a call of duty copy and paste play style. I watched the trailer and thought, "wow idk why this game isnt very popular?" Then halfway through my first match I realized why and uninstalled it immediately. Its just generic, like if walmart made its own game.

Please shut the fuck up. It has a decent campaign and boring multiplayer. It was never worth $60

Sick of the unjustified love for this game! It's a really good game for a really good price, but it had A LOT of problems!!

If it was on steam and I wouldnt have to search for my origin account details and install origin I would probably buy it right now

I'm going to start downvoting Titanfall 2 posts now....

I'll never get this subreddits obsession with this very mediocre game

Great game.

Just got this for £30 on PS4, most fun I have playing online in a long time. Still learning things but I'm kicking myself for not getting it sooner. Love it

People know about the game, but people don't want to play it. Its bascially modern CoD with Mechs. I really dont like these types of shooters, with 2min wallrunning, corner sliding and flying through the map with a hook.

I think that people want to go back to normal FPS Shooters. BF1, new CoD set in WW2, Rainbow6: Siege, Playerunknown Battleground.

You cant blame everything on the non-existent Marketing, there are dozen of successful shooters out there with 0 Marketing.

The memes for this game are becoming more and more absurd. Fucking christ this sub knows how to beat a dead horse.

We are approaching maximum shilling with this game.

Best shooter I own and I tried Battlefield, CoD, Random X f2p shooter. The source engine makes the gameplay so smooth and flexible. The entry barrier is very low, since your start weapons are awesome. I can't tell how awesome this game and community is. Please give it a shot. I would love to see this series going on, but due to EA's bullshit release date... We now need to show them that this game is awesome and that the constant work from the devs and the communication is worth it!

I loved the single player campaign. It was short but fun as hell. The multiplayer is what makes me not play this. I jump into a match and run around for 5 seconds then get sniped by a guy going Mach 4 with a sniper rifle ricocheted of 4 walls and curved around a corner by a black hole. Then I turn the game off and go play some overwatch.

Is it on steam? If not it doesn't exist.

There's a lot of advertising for this game here on Reddit.

Enough already with this. we get it. ya'll like titanfall. It's not for everyone. get over it.

Looks good an all but two issues.

EA, they are so scummy i refuse to buy anything from them. Battlefield 1 looked amazing as well, but I just can't.

Origin, such a pain in the ass still apparently.

This. After my origin account with a handful of various 60+ dollar games with dlc got deleted and customer support couldn't figure out why but refused to do anything about it, it put the nail in the coffin for me to never purchase anything from them again.

Not to mention origin is a piece of shit software.

[–]Snok 1

No i'm not going to buy this game because its on origin and not steam, and origin is the biggest piece of shit game launcher in history

I wish they advertised this more. The series suffered a ridiculously bad launch but Titanfall 1 ended up being pretty solid after all the patches, then Titanfall 2 starts off as a complete game but they launch against the two strongest FPS franchises in history. It has this crazy varied gameplay between the psychotic fast and open pilot play and the more strategic and methodical Titan play.

It's one of my favorite games, I'm bouncing between Overwatch for team play and Titanfall 2 for solo play.

Titsnfall 2 and Battlefield 1 deluxe bundle on Origin is going for $47.99

I bought it a few days ago, it's fun but it doesn't keep me playing for more than one hour at a time

I don't agree with OPs comment but thanks for the heads up on the sale.

The skill ceiling is a bit too high for me. Even if you try to get in now you're gonna get stomped by people who have learned all of the mechanics because there wont be enough new players.

It's a great game but you wont get a lot out of the multiplayer without investing a lot of time. The single player story is solid but short.

One of the best campaigns and multiplayer in recent memory

THANK YOU! Was waiting for a sale and thanks to you I now have the game! :D

Love this game. I recommend it to anybody who will listen

This game like I was just playing a paid for DLC version of the first.

To me it is not the release date. It is the fact that this is a follow up to a fiasco.

Nope my reason for not buying it is that I can't run for more than 5 seconds after spawning without being instantly killed. Tried it during the free weekend and decided the learning curve was way too steep for me

When the game first came out target had it $15 off and somehow a buy one get one deal too. I bought my brother and I one each for like $56 total. Good game!

My problem with it is that it's way way way too fast. The ttk is super low early on, and once titans start hitting the field, I feel largely useless without one.

Basically, I'm too much of a noob.

I'd buy if I wasn't poor :/

Maybe I just have a fetish for unpopular opinions but Battleborn and Titanfall 2 are some of my favorite fps games. They are just so unique. I find myself playing Overwatch much more just because of my friends and I feel like a lot of people are in my position. It really is a shame that Titanfall got swept under the rug.

DEAL OF THE YEAR.

[–]kylo_little_ren_hen 0 ポイント1 ポイント  (0子コメント)

I'm currently in the middle of the campaign and it is probably the best campaign I've played in the past few years.

this game is honestly badass, I didn't play the first one and picked up this one for £5 on the PSN store and I do not regret it at all

What made Titanfall 2 not sell out was the fact that the first one had very litle replay-ability. I think I played the game and had fun for like 2 hours then I realize there was like 3 weapon sets.

This finally convinced me to pick it up but I couldn't figure out where to actually buy it for that price. Ah well.

i cant even get the game downloaded or id play the hell out of it. gives me an error after a few seconds trying. but thats origin for you

LE G E M 💎💎💎💎💎💎💎💎💎💎💎💎

Sorry it has to be literally the best game of the year hands down over any other title before i would even think about handing any money to EA.

Even then i probably wouldnt buy it if i could get a crack.

Fuck EA.

No, the excuse is that the population is so low thus making games to find a struggle especially if you're in a small region, I don't want to sit in long queue times, I do that in enough in the current games I play I don't want a game that would be 10x worse. Also it's not on Steam, I've had enough of buying games from Origin and Uplay, never doing it again, it's either Steam or Blizzard, that's all I'm doing now.

Shame though, it is a really good game.

This was literally just reposted two weeks ago dammit

If it had a multiplayer mode against only bots, I would buy it. Otherwise, Call of Duty still wins for me.

Free maps and dlc

It's not free if you pay for it.
