Mostly morons following trends, eg "Spanish Welbeck". He's clinical, scores often and is suited to the PL. We'll just have to see how he does when he's the starter, I think some confidence in him can go far.

The Spanish Welbeck one is definitely funny considering his goal record last season, even if it is as a super sub. We all know what Welbeck's major flaw was (despite being a good player) and it was purely in the goals department.

My views on him as a player haven't really changed but I do trust Mou and he clearly sees Morata as a player that fits his system and that can score goals for us

I think the fact that most thought we were getting Griezmann played a part in dismissing the guy.

My opinion is unchanged. If we signed him as a first choice striker I would be underwhelmed, disappointed and quite angry that we signed such a mediocre player for a so much money.

Yup. We signed a world class striker (who was the third highest scorer in the world in the past 18-24 months behind Messi and Ronaldo) and even before his injury, we struggled to finish and score enough goals. That was also with Rooney, Martial, Rashford and the plethora of midfielders that should be stepping up.

Now with we have just Morata, who is young, hit double digits for the first time in a season and has barely played 90 mins. And we expect him to do a good enough job for a PL top 4 or title challenge and make progress through the CL. I don't want to comment on his ability alone before he's played but we need someone else too.

I think he is a good fit for Mourinho's system, but I think we are massively overpaying(Even for the current market). Is he going to come right in and be as good as Ibrahimovic or even replace most if not all his 28 goals? Because that's what you ideally want if you are paying £60m for a centre forward.

The problem was people making judgements from there little experience in watching him play, it's easy to follow social media and make a judgement off some kid saying he's the spanish Welbeck, if anything, being linked to him encourages people to do some research into what he offers, hence why the opinions change as people either didn't have an opinion in the first place or made judgment through the following of a trend.

You can look at how my comments have been progressively downvoted more and more as the signing gets closer to happening haha. It's ridiculous. I hope he does well for us but I really think this is a very underwhelming signing.
