About this project
People say that we are crazy for just growing the ghost pepper.
Yep, just the ghost pepper and we love growing them. It all started back in 2011 with just one ghost pepper plant and not knowing what to do with the fresh peppers my dad and I searched online to find they was hard to come by.. Then right there Ghost Pepper Farm's was created and we both are super pumped to share our farm products with you. Over the years we have expanded to our capabilities on our current property for growing more plants so that's why this year we want to use a portion of our harvest to make some farm to bottle all natural hot sauce, our hot sauce unlike many others will have NO PRESERVATIVES and is NON GMO its made with peppers that we grown.
What will we use the money for?
- The money we are able to raise by selling hot sauces will be going towards helping kickstart our farm to bottle hot sauce experience for our customers. -$2,500 will get our-
- Permits & licenses needed (time-frame up to 90days, which as soon as we reach the 500 dollar mark we will file for the state bottling permits, we have already got the process authority letter letting us know our recipes and methods are cleared for take off, meaning we can start bottling as soon as the license costs are paid, and fda paperwork filed which is the biggest time taker of up to 90 days)
- Kitchen Rental space we work with a local licensed and inspected commercial kitchen so we can craft and bottle our sauce ourselves.
- Labels, Bottles & Equipment will take a lot of the budget but we have everything already selected on what we need to make sure we are within the needed process required by the FDA and process authority.
- Then of course the ingredients being that we grow the ghost peppers we got that covered plus our suppliers always have stock of what we need and are usa companies.
Our ultimate goal would be to sell enough sauce to raise enough money to purchase the property we need to expand the amount ghost pepper plants we are able to grow but also get a building put in on the property to make our hot sauce on site of our farm, which will help cut costs overall in the long run..
Risks and challenges
There is always some risk when it comes to farming, but we have been growing the ghost pepper since 2012 and have gained huge knowledge in knowing how to produce healthy happy ghost pepper plants to produce top quality fresh peppers. Bottling the sauce, we have sourced multiple growers and suppliers to be able to always have stock for what we need to bottle our sauce. The permit process, we have already started with the process authority so now all we need to do is raise the funds to pay the state license costs and all the start up costs like the bottles, ingredients and equipment. Reward fulfillment, over the years we have had alot of order through our website and take pride in making sure everyone gets what they paid for, as for delays we have calculated for up to a 60 day delay in our fulfillment timeframe so as long as there is no delay rewards will be fulfilled before the expected fulfillment date.
