Trump doesn't tweet during Comey testimony

President Trump did not tweet during former FBI Director James Comey's Senate testimony Thursday, surprising many onlookers.

Speculation ran rampant that Trump may speak up via social media to rebut Comey's testimony about the president's conversations with the since-fired FBI chief. 

The president reportedly planned to watch the hearing alongside his legal team and top advisers.

Comey testified in front of the Senate Intelligence Committee that Trump repeatedly sought to influence the FBI’s investigation into Russian election meddling before firing him. 

The Washington Post reported Trump didn't plan to "put down Twitter" during the hearing if he felt a need to respond to Comey.

“I don’t know for sure," Comey said when asked why he believes he was fired. "I take the president at his word that I was fired because of the Russian investigation.”
