Visited a friend of mine who is currently in a physical rehabilitation facility for a herniated disc.
There's this older guy, must be in his late 50's or early 60's, that fell from a ladder while working and got a complicated fracture on his knee that he's trying to fix there.
Why did he fall from the ladder?
He was tired and overworked; guy had 3 jobs and it was the end of a 16 hour shift.
Why does this guy have to work 3 jobs and 16h a day?
To pay for his ex-wife, her new boyfriend, their new flat and his two estranged children.
How did this all happen?
Guy's parents owned a large plot of farm land in a popular tourist spot. Sold most of it to real estate investors and only kept their own property. Money made from the sale was put in a trust.
When his parents passed away, guy got the trust and his childhood home, took out a loan to start renovating it because the plan was to move in with the wife and kids.
Wife started to act different, became distant, stopped cooking, cleaning, started nagging and complaining.
Turns out she had a new Chad half her age.
When they went to court, she started fabricating stories about abusive marriage and whatnot, manipulated their kids and as a result, she was heavily favored in the divorce settlement.
Wife got 70% of his trust, his childhood home/property that he still had a loan on for the renovation. He has to pay the banks and child support for both of his kids, alimony to his wife because it aint cheap to live in a condo in the city with her new Chad and the kids.
Essentially this guy's fucked for life. Will likely never recover, lost everything he ever had. You could see it in his eyes; one of the saddest things to look at is the sight of a broken and defeated man. Just something about it that hits hard, I don't know....
Can't make this shit up, guys. Marriage not even once.
My grandfather always said, 'If you wanna get married you really gotta ask yourself, what are you going to do with your wife for the remaining 23 hours and 50 minutes of the day?'
