Michael Cohen’s Pal Jason Hervey and His Magic Beard

Either Michael Cohen’s friend has great follicles, or someone has got some explaining to do.

My last post was a very detailed examination of the (potential) travels of Michael Cohen (Donald Trump’s personal lawyer,) who was alleged in the Steele dossier to have played a key role in coordinating with Russian agents during Trump’s campaign.

That post being long, and covering many issues, I wanted to post a very brief one, looking at one particular issue that is puzzling: Jason Hervey’s beard.  Jason Hervey is an old friend of Michael Cohen, and went to visit in him in early October 2016. My last post went into a detailed analysis of why I believe some tweets the two of them made are not what they purport to be.

Here is the very brief story: Hervey went to New York in early October and saw Cohen.  They claim to have gone to the “soft opening” of Tavern62 on the night of October 4th, and Cohen tweeted the following picture:

MC Oct4 1

From other information online, there was indeed a soft opening at that restaurant on October 4.

Later that evening, Cohen tweeted another picture of him and Hervey, again mentioning the restaurant. And then, less than 37 hours later, Hervey posted a picture of himself purporting to be in a cab in New York.  These two pictures are shown in sequence below:

MC and JH 10-4 outsideJH cab 10-6 tweet

Note the significant growth of Hervey’s beard in that 37 hours.  It is not my experience that any man grows his beard that fast. Thus, these pictures cannot have been taken 37 hours apart.  The latter could not have been taken later than the time it is stamped with, of course. So either the former was not taken on October 4, but instead several days earlier, or the latter was taken at some totally different time, and posted as if it was taken on the 6th.

Either way, the question is: why?

And this is why this is significant: Michael Cohen posted only those two tweets between October 1 and October 11.  During that time, the vice-presidential debate, Wikileaks dump of the Podesta emails, and second presidential debate all occurred.  He made no tweets about any of these major events.

More recently, Cohen has decided to show his passport to Buzzfeed–unclear why he suddenly felt compelled to do so, after not responding to earlier requests to do so, and when the Prague trip issue has not been on anyone’s mind very much. It shows a Heathrow Airport stamp for October 6, as well as for November 23. Perhaps those were always there, though when Hunter Walker of Yahoo News looked at the passport via Facetime on January 10, he noted travel to many countries, but not England. But even if he did go there on the 6th, why no tweets about the VP debate on the 4th or 5th? And why wouldn’t he tweet about any of those other October events from England? He did tweet from there in November.

So I would love to understand Jason Hervey’s beard.  If anyone has a theory, let me know…

And read the other post if you want to dig deeper.
