Eric Trump: It’s OK to Talk About Business Finances With Dad Because He Has ‘Zero Conflicts of Interest’

This morning, ABC’s Good Morning America aired interviews with President Donald Trump’s two oldest sons. While Donald Trump Jr. was busy defending his father’s criticism of the Mayor of London, Eric Trump let it be known that he still discusses business matters with the president. This is despite the president handing over day-to-day control of his businesses to his sons and placing his assets in a trust as a way to show he wouldn’t have a conflict of interest.

“We don’t talk about the activities. We don’t talk about what we’re doing in the business. We don’t — we just don’t mix,” Eric Trump told reporter Tom Llamas while acknowledging he’s shown profit reports to the president.

When pressed by Llamas about showing the finances to his dad and if it blurred lines, the Trump scion said it was completely fine since, in the end, the president can’t have any conflicts of interest.

“It doesn’t blur the lines,” he told Llamas. “You’re allowed to show that and remember, the President of the United States has zero conflicts of interest. Zero.”

This is a line the president has previously used in response to critics’ concerns that Trump could potentially use his office to benefit himself and his business. However, when he handed control of his businesses to his sons, Trump said they wouldn’t discuss the business with him at all.
