Wait, does this confirm or challenge my priors? I have to figure that out before I decide whether you are a hero or a scoundrel.
It's the face-slobber that really makes the second one hilarious.
One fatwa . . . coming your way!
Thank you.
This [Charlie Hebdo] was the only publication that was willing to publish the Muhammad — the Danish Muhammad cartoons in 2006 because they decided to stand by those Danish cartoonists. I'm proud to have written for the only Canadian magazine to publish those Muhammad cartoons. And it's because The New York Times didn't and because Le Monde in Paris didn't, and the London Times didn't and all the other great newspapers of the world didn't – only Charlie Hebdo and my magazine in Canada and a few others did. But they were forced to bear a burden that should have been more widely dispersed…" – Mark Steyn – http://www.steynonline.com/7405/the-ghosts-of-charlie-hebdo

Fatwa? Why is it never a thinwa? You'd think in this day and age they'd have at least some care about obesity…
I full stand behind Charlie Hebdo's rights to free expression, but content-wise their work is minstrelsy of the most stomach churning type: humorless recycling of long-used caricatures of oppressed and powerless minorities.
Thank you.

Come on, Muslims aren't an oppressed or powerless minority but responsible for serial terrorism and rape across several continents.
– Which religion mandates and to a large extend enforces the dictum that apostates must be killed?
– Which religion mandates that "lose" women are uncovered meat and deserving of rape?
And no, this is not Christian churches in the deep south or the Vatican but a matter of public record.
And when was the last time anyone was hunted down and killed for ridiculing the Christian prophet?
Mohammed was personally responsible for ordering the assasination of poets for ridiculing his newly founded religion.
The Charlie Hebdo attack anniversary would also be a timely moment to champion the free speech rights of Dieudonné M'bala M'bala in France and Roy Arthur Topham in Canada. Islamic radicals aren't the only people willing to use force to suppress ideas they dislike.
I fiercely support the right to publish that material, but I don't see what it accomplishes or how it makes the world a better place. How does it make the world a better place?
Ummmm… is the answer "Judaism"? For verily, it is written (a millennium before any nonsense written down by some Arab in the 7th century – yet still canonical)…
Ummmm…. is the answer "Judaism"? OK – not 'deserving of rape', exactly, but 'deserving of death' is probably a bit more worser. (I think we can agree that a woman who is not a virgin prior to her marriage is deemed 'loose' [accepting, arguendo, that this is the word you were looking for])
Because let's be clear: Deuteronomy is part of the Pentateuch.
@Mark Wing
It makes the world a better place by ridiculing stupid childish primitive tribal fantasies, thus raising the price for pretending to adhere to those fantasies and making the marginal adherent less likely to publicly profess that they have the critical cognitive faculties of a four-year-old.
This is a very good thing, because as history has shewn… when people feel comfortable embracing Iron Age tribal drivel, it soon degenerates into a system where people who are not stupid are slaughtered for 'heresy'.
Ridicule everything that anyone thinks must not be ridiculed: ridicule it doubly and triply if there is an actual law against ridiculing it (or questioning it, or in any way trying to interfere with what a person may think about it).
