This is a "serious" sub for honest discussion about Admin and Moderator bias and abuse of power. While we are advocates of free speech, the following rules will be put in place to maintain quality in this subreddit:
IMPORTANT NOTE Reddit has reached the depressing point where generic subreddit bans are so commonplace that they are barely newsworthy anymore. In the interests of post quality control, we maintain the right to remove posts that are simply about such bans and/or modmail mutings. Please don't post such threads unless it's something absolutely extraordinary.

/r/technology becoming less & less about technology due to weak mods, vote manip, & mods w/ agendas (self.subredditcancer)

11,000+ upvotes in /r/technology for an article about...politics, government, and the EpiPen?!?!?!?
/r/technology/comments/6elc3k/senator_epipen_manufacturer_ripped_off_the_us/
Even if it is vote manipulation, why aren't the mods doing anything to stop non-technology articles from getting in?

The subreddit (and others) has completely gone nuts by neglecting to see how a majority of technological innovation, including computers, video games, the internet and more, are a direct byproduct of military and/or political happenstances. They are so concerned with the possibility that politics of the wrong think kind will leak onto their forum so they use it as a pretext to create banned topics and unacceptable opinions. This kind of thinking has moved into the realm of acceptability, as our political climate continues to inch further and further away from the idea that it's OK for all opinions and all discussion to exist, and closer to "if you aren't on our team, you are with the enemy".
People are so fucking afraid of being offended these days that they are willing to wilfully stifle productive and highly insightful conversation for everyone. So all these efforts to downplay "toxic" opinions and controversy has actually created a totalitarian environment where everyone walks on eggshells. It's almost a game, where I can predict which several popular submissions will be pulled from the main subs because they push the envelope just a little too far for the sophomoric and incredibly corrupt mods.
Take a look at eli5 for example. In a similar light, they have straight up banned any questions, as awesome or innocent as the discussion or question may be, that seek to analyze or dissect any aspect of culture, politics, and society. What is it that they are so afraid will be found out or discussed? Or is this one of those trees of forbidden fruit thing where they arbitrarily set up traps for the sole purpose of being able to feel powerful?
It all reminds me of situations where hardcore religious parents don't want their kids finding out that evolution exists because it could challenge the anti-intellectual faith-based narrative and cause the kid to question the foundations of his or her understanding of reality.
I wouldn't be surprised if it was maybe a handful of individuals who are causing all of this abrasion on Reddit. Over the course of the past decade, it's gone from a free outlet for open discussion to an eggshell-laden censorship forum where you have to phrase things just right and talk about only pre-approved topics for mods and admins to allow it.
I used to come to Reddit as my first stop for news. Now I come to Reddit to be shocked at what a fat, ugly sow most of it has become.

I visit only my front page. r/Popular and r/all are too full with crap.

I used to sort the front page by Controversial only until I saw that we can remove the default retarded subreddits.

Since the technology forum lost default status it has been under attack.
Bots voting useful topics below 0. Flooded with moderator applications from those who conduct themselves as though they work for reputation management firms, working tirelessly to shift politics or inconvenient information off the sub (just like when the NSA story broke).
Moderators who take effort to support open discussion, as opposed to a more authoritarian "curated" space, come under prolonged harassment/attack until they leave or snap and are kicked off the team.
The tools do not exist at the moderator level to defend a sub against this sort of attack, and the admin seem disinclined to step in and change it.

Your title applies to most of reddit in general. Rules are only enforced on posts the mods personal biases don't align with, and this applies to subs on ALL sides of the spectrum. I can't think of many subs that aren't pushing some sort of agenda these days.

I guess I'm a unicorn then. I don't let my personal politics, biases or feelings determine if a submission or comment gets removed. I have seen plenty of shit that made my blood boil, but because what was posted did not break either the Reddit or subreddit's rules, I let it alone.
I suppose I have an advantage tho. I grew up before the era of the snowflake, that plus my military service taught me how to divorce my feelings in order to do something I find distasteful.
Basically I don't allow my feelings to dictate how I react to everything, something it seems that millennials, college and high schoolers can't seem to do any more.
