Discussion- Striker targets (self.reddevils)

I've seen we're mainly being linked with belotti, griezmann, morata and lukaku. With Zlatan out for the first half of the season i think it's especially important we get a target man type striker to complement or rotate with rashford/martial. I really like modeste, mandzukic and aubameyang (not a traditional target man but has insane athleticism and is good in the air) as alternate options. I don't think we should be buying anyone much younger than 27-28 because hopefully rashford can be our starting striker in 2-3 years, especially because two-striker systems are not very popular and hard to tactically implement. Just interested in everyone's thoughts and ideas as to who the ideal signing/s is.

Griezmann was obvious first choice, but now looks likely to stay Atletico.

Next best option on of who we've been targeted at buying is Lacazette imo because he's a proven goalscorer albeit not in the best league for a few years now.

Belotti and Morata are big risks in my opinion.

I heard Ronaldo is a decent target man nowadays, and recently he said that the people in Manchester are really nice people, looks like he is probably coming.

I think I have seen that guy wearing our kit before, so he must be a fan - I would say our chances are pretty good!

I think we will end up with either Morata or Lacazette. I don't see us paying up £100 million + Raiola cut of the deal for Lukaku.

If we want to be one of the best teams in the world we can't just hand a starting job to someone. There's no guarantee with Rashford or any young player that they will be starting quality on a team that wants to compete for champions league titles in three years.

That said the order I rank our targets is Lukaku, Belotti, Morata... want nothing to do with Lacazette.

Lukaku is just what we need, people downplaying him on this sub are so off base imo. If he was english the sub would cream their pants over him. He's pacey, strong, a two footed finisher, good header, can hold up play well, can create goals on his own, premier league proven, and only 24. If he joins us, there's no way he scores less than 20 goals next season. I can't say the same for the other strikers we are linked with. He's ambitious, he wants to prove himself at the top club and that's the type of player I want. Also he has a good scoring record against Liverpool and City and comes from a club who hates Liverpool just like us. He's tailor made for us.

People will say he's not "intricate" enough, well that's not what our team needs. Let our wingers and creative mids do that, we need someone to put the ball in the net. They'll say his touch is shit when it really isn't any worse than Rooney and he seemed to have a decent career with us don't you think?
