Can someone explain the Atletico Madrid transfer ban situation? (self.reddevils)

I keep hearing that the ban will most likely be lifted, but in case it's not, how does it impact us? Can Griezmann's signing (assuming that's what is happening) be stopped? Or is it just a ban for signing on new players for Atletico?

It's only a ban on registering players. They can sell whoever they want and buy whoever they want, the bought ones just can't be registered or played in matches until the winter.

The only way it affects us is if they lose the appeal and Griezmann decides to stay so he's not leaving them in the lurch. He can still leave if he wants to though and because of the buyout clause AM don't have any say in it.

So buyout overrules any control Atleti might have. Cool. Thanks for the response. Transfer business and its nitty-gritties always gives me a headache.
