I'll never understand why so many Americans are against affordable healthcare for their fellow citizens It's bizzare & baffling

Several forces are at work to cause the US healthcare mess: 1) Cult of individualism taken to extreme >

2) US evangelical religions say illness comes from being a bad person, 3) slavery taught Americans that healthcare must be "earned" >

4) Americans tend to conflate "capitalism" with "being American", therefore everything even healthcare must be subject to capitalism >

5) the US is still a child as a country and thinks it doesn't need to look to how other countries do well. >

There's probably other forces at work too on the US healthcare system but that's my current take on why it's so terrible.

I forgot a super-obvious one: decades of US right-wing propaganda have taught many people to hate all taxes, even if they'd help people.

So that was #6. I thought of another: 7) the US isn't particularly united. There's not a strong feeling of "we're all in this together".

This really is the perfect storm of awful caused by Trump and his cronies.

Trump didnt cause our healtchcare problems. He aint fixing them, but he didnt cause them. *not a trump supporter*

Sure hes adding to the problems But even under ACApremiums were rising and many insurance providers were pulling out. Its been a mess4awhile

So we'll blame Ryan and GOP of which Trump is the current leader.

You can blame who you want. Im just saying that our HC system has been a mess much longer than trumps been president.

And it would have been far better if his GOP hadn't blocked every useful improvement.
