Yeah that would be me as well. I'm living and working alone. Could use a partner in crime, or somebody one can call a friend, but I've noticed that it's difficult. People are very busy with themselves and they don't really listen. I'm all for 'now it's your day' friendships, but it doesn't seem to work like that.

It's basically this: today is your day. What do you want to do? What do you want to talk about? I'll join you and I'll listen to you without giving the same ol' bullshit advice you already know. Today is fully dedicated to you. Another day, it's my day, and you'll be there for me. (Especially that last part seems to scare a lot of people.)

My past 'friendships' were all about listening and being there for them. (Even lending them money, that I never got back.) But when I wanted to tell something, it was basically: "Oh don't worry, everything will be alright."

Since knowing exactly how most people operate, and how this world 'works', it's hard to be around people who still live in Disneyland.
