フランス語を先行とした文章の作成について: (The English message is below.)
執筆のお話をいただいた当初は、日本語の文章を作った後で、海外の関係の方々にもなるべく広く読んでもらえるよう、英語またはフランス語の訳を付けるつもりでいました。
しかし日本語という母語を使って、盛岡について書こうとしたとき、想いが強すぎたり、言いたいことが多かったりと、まとまった内容にするのが難しかったため、今回、このような試みをしました。 (全くの偶然で、その動機も内容も比べることなどできませんが、 最近まで盛岡でも公開中された「息の跡」を観たとき、その中で描かれる佐藤さんの挑戦に通じるものを感じました。）
フランス語は自分にとって最も難しい学習言語ですが、大好きな盛岡を、文化や生活に隔たりのある世界のどこかへ向けて(つまり読み手に外国 人を想定して)書き表すことは、対象を突き放すことでもあり、また、ただ一人の祈りのようでもありました。 特に、フランス語がこのテーマにこれほど向いているとは、自分にとっても新発見でした。

When Kenichi first gave me the idea of writing an essay, I simply planned to write it in Japanese and translate it into English or French later for the foreign readers. But I changed this plan because I found that it was too difficult to write about Morioka, my favorite place, in my mother language. My thoughts for this city flooded out and never seemed to take shape.
French is the most difficult language for me but it fits for this case to focus on what I want to say the most and to make some form for it. I think foreign languages can help us because of their difficulty when we need to tell the others something composed with the full of long thoughts and that’s why I could never give up totally learning them.
I appreciate Kenichi giving me this chance and many thanks to the foreign readers, and of course, love for Morioka, everyone who lives there.
