Go to the doctor and get checked out. Keep track of your expenses not covered by OHIP, and of any longer-term harm. If you have uncompensated expenses, ask your dental surgeon to reimburse you, and sue in small claims (up to $25,000) or find a personal injury attorney (otherwise) to recover them if they refuse. Your dentist is insured, and your medical costs should be covered.

Make a complaint to the Royal College of Dental Surgeons, who oversee licensing and patient safety.

That's very helpful, thank you.

I work at a law office in Ontario and this happened to one of our clients about a year ago. She lost taste in her mouth and it was very painful. I can ask the lawyer who handled it more questions about the case if you want. I think the case is still ongoing.

Ontario must have an epidemic of similar-looking bottles.

If you think you ingested or otherwise imbibed a potentially hazardous substance, your first consideration should be going to the hospital, not getting paid.

It has been two days, I've been seen by doctors, and am doing more checkups to evaluate whether there will be any long-term damage as a result of ingestion. Unfortunately, I was unaware it was a hazardous substance until over 24 hours later because they claimed initially that it was simply an antibiotic rinse.

The bottles look the same or similar, and are stored together. This seems incredibly stupid. possibly criminally stupid. There may be a law pertaining to this, but all I can find references food in conjunction with cleaners.
