Salt in New York
The “Wieliczka” Salt Mine enjoys continuing popularity in the media. Journalists report on underground events, record the news, gather materials for reportages and make documentary films. In 2016, 1155 representatives of the media travelled along the salt routes. The underground was visited by journalists from the press, radio and Internet, as well as bloggers, photographers, and numerous TV crews.

A new tourism record was set again in Małopolska – in 2016 the region was visited by 14.9 million tourists, over a million more compared to 2015. Asked about the most attractive places, tourists picked Krakow, Zakopane and the "Wieliczka” Salt Mine.
Just like in Vienna
The New Year’s Concert at the “Wieliczka” Salt Mine enjoys such great popularity that this year we had to organise two of them. On the 7th and 8th of January, the Warsaw Chamber was filled with the music performed by talented soloists and the outstanding Krakow Opera Orchestra. The artists took their audience on an unforgettable musical journey to the 19th century Vienna.

Orchestra in a nutshell
The year 1830 is considered to be the date of creation of the institutionalised mining orchestra in Wieliczka, under the name of Imperial and Royal Salinary Music. The contemporary salinary orchestra operates and plays under the name of the “Wieliczka” Salt Mine Representative Brass Band.
