This beautiful period cottage has been thoughtfully and stylishly designed throughout with a beautiful mix of contemporary and vintage furnishings to provide boutique accommodation in a convenient and sought-after location in the Sussex countryside
The property is situated in the pretty village of Burwash, famed for its associations with Rudyard Kipling. Batemans, the home where Kipling wrote The Jungle Book is just half a mile outside the main village and is a popular National Trust property. Less than a 30-minute drive away is another important historic site, the 14th century Bodiam Castle. The village of Burwash itself is small yet well-appointed with a choice of pubs and quaint tearooms, ideal for when you don’t fancy cooking.
The entrance to the cottage leads you into the lounge and dining area. The accommodation is cosy with many original features and exposed beams. The lounge area has a three seater comfy sofa and a club chair, wood burner (logs included for your stay) and TV. The dining table and four chairs is situated by the window, perfect for watching the world go by. A door leads through to the well-appointed kitchen which has an electric range oven and hob, fridge, freezer and dishwasher. The downstairs shower room has a large walk-in shower, WC and a built-in cupboard housing the washer/dryer. Stairs from the kitchen lead upstairs to the landing area with its quirky sloping roof. A door leads into a sumptuous bedroom with a king-size bed and a large walk in cupboard with hanging rail. There are bedside tables and lamps and a beautiful painted vintage mirror. The en-suite bathroom has a shower over the bath – perfect for a long soak. The second bedroom has a double bed with bedside tables and lamps, and a traditional pine wardrobe.
Outside there is a patio area with patio table and chairs
