Wondering who you would make the next captain if it was your decision... You can assume it is either next season or just when Rooney leaves. Have left out Carrick as theres been no word on a contract extention. Have included players talked up for the captaincy role... EDIT: forgot to attach poll http://www.strawpoll.me/12891445

Absolutely Ander Herrera. If Wazza leaves, De Gea goes, and Smalling isn't good enough, it has to be Ander.

Valencia is amazing, but he can't speak English very well and seems to be a bit of a lone wolf in the team.

Herrera plays for the manager, whoever it is. Plays in any position and always leads by example. He pocketed the best attacking player in the league and has a real love for the club.

When Fella got sent off, he went and had a go at Aguero at the end of the match. Beast.

My only issue would be that he does get sent off a bit.. so he would need to calm down a little bit to lead on the pitch and not from the sidelines.

Valencia or preferably for me, Smalling, if he regains his form and is a central player for us again like under LVG

It's more about him being consistently fit than anything else. It feels like he hasn't been able to find his place in Mourinho's system yet cuz he hasn't been fit for long periods. Love the guy though and would like him to step it up and stay here for longer.

Yeah, I hope so too. He's just seemed so out of place in some of the games he's played, like against Chelsea. Hopefully I'm wrong but I just see him as fitting in Van Gaal's system more than actually being as good as he looked.

I'm intuitively forced to think that way about him but I feel like last year he did show qualities of being a much better CB than he is right now. That's the thing with defenders, it's experience that counts for them a lot more than pure quality and I feel that maybe he should be given a little more time before we make a judgment call on his status.

In terms of pure captain material it's gotta be Ander. The lad plays every game for us like it's his last. Over the years, I've loved the players we've had who the opposition and their fans absolutely love to hate and under someone like Mourinho who better than Herrera. He's a mini Keane already and can surely step it up with more versatile players around him.

Of course! That's why I called him a mini Keane. He has all the qualities to get somewhere close cuz Keane's a fucking legend. But I feel he does have that hunger to win. He leaves it all on the pitch for the team and is pretty vocal too during the games which I absolutely love!
