Going with a group, calling Munich "home base" and renting a SUV. We will be there for two weeks. Interested in seeing art museums, old villages, castles, scenery, doing some hiking (love the outdoors). Wanting to possibly visit other countries like Switzerland, France, Netherlands or Czech Republic. This will be a very open trip and we're ok with splitting up at times. We know we won't see it all. Simply gathering ideas and putting together options, and would like some weigh in on what would be most practical & worthwhile based on our interests.
So far we're thinking day trips to places like Ulm, Berlin, Frieburg via train or car. Prague would be cool as well.... A part of me wants to travel via train to Switzerland or France borders, stay a night or two at a hostel, then return. The Black Forest, Swiss Alps, and Romantic Road are also on the radar, though we're unsure about the best way to get to those destinations and which are more practical (also open to other options). In Munich in particular I just want to get lost in the city, take a bike tour, enjoy the gardens, explore a castle, drink beer with locals in the evening.
