30年間にわたりシリコンバレーのアイコンであり続けたウォズニアックは、
IT企業でコンピューターを設計、コンピューター産業の基盤を形作った人物である。
1976年、ウォズニアックは後に世界的に有名なIT企業となる会社の設立に参画。
その翌年には、中央処理装置、キーボード、カラーグラフィックス、フロッピーディスク
ドライブを搭載したPCを発表。後のPC業界で多大な影響を与えることとなった。
2014年には「工学分野において、人類にすばらしい影響を与えた人」に贈られる
Hoover Medalを受賞している。

In 1976, Wozniak participated in establishing a company that will become a world famous IT company. The following year, he introduced new personal computer, featuring a central processing unit, a keyboard, color graphics, and a floppy disk drive. The new personal computer he introduced was integral in launching the personal computer industry.
その後、1981年にUC Berkeleyに戻り、電気工学/コンピューターサイエンスの学位を取得する。そして、これまでの功績が評価され、1985年にアメリカ大統領よりNational Medal of Technologyを受賞。この賞はアメリカ国内の技術先駆者たちにとっては大きな意味を持つものであった。 In 1981, he went back to UC Berkeley and finished his degree in electrical engineering/computer science. For his achievements, Wozniak was awarded the National Medal of Technology by the President of the United States in 1985, the highest honor bestowed on America’s leading innovators.

ウォズニアックは、長年にわたり情報化教育や実践的な学習、学生の創造性を感化するようなビジネスおよび慈善事業に多く携わり、また工学の教育分野に膨大な時間と資金を費やして発展に貢献した。そして彼はロスガトス学区の生徒教師を対象に情報化教育活動と最先端科学技術の機材提供を行い、さらには電子フロンティア財団を設立した後、資金スポンサーとして技術博物館・シリコンバレー バレエ団・サンホセにある子ども博物館も設立した。 Through the years, Wozniak has been involved in various business and philanthropic ventures, focusing primarily on computer capabilities in schools and stressing hands-on learning and encouraging creativity for students. Making significant investments of both his time and resources in education, he adopted the Los Gatos School District, providing students and teachers with hands-on teaching and donations of state-of-the-art technology equipment. He founded the Electronic Frontier Foundation, and was the founding sponsor of the Tech Museum, Silicon Valley Ballet and Children’s Discovery Museum of San Jose.
