Welcome to Unforgotten Quest....
Unforgotten Quest is a 1 to 4 player Co-op RPG. We took everything you love about big roleplaying games and are turning it into an amazing experience for you and your friends to play in. Big classes, engaging game play, something called an "End Game" that seems it be a myth in most modern RPG/MMOs of today, all behind a large, hilarious world that makes the entire experience feel like one long Unforgotten Realms episode, where the player controls everything.
What will the game be like?
Unforgotten Quest is a game in which you go out into the world completely lost until you find a hidden cave in the back corner of a jungle that takes you deep into a mystical dungeon, where a giant Ogre swings a really slow club. If you don't get out of the way, you die, but if you do move out of the way while pressing buttons on your keyboard, you will slay the Ogre, loot his body, and receive an enchanted sword that's a lot worse then your enchanted hammer.
It's a game where there is no quest log for you to follow, but when you talk to villagers, they tell you about the nasty poisonous rats in the innkeeper's basement. He wants you to slay them, but when you go down into the basement, you end up in a long conversation with the King of the poison Rats. While enjoying some tea over a game of black jack, the King of Rats claims the innkeeper is a mean, old man and the rat will pay you double if you go back upstairs, slay the innkeeper instead and burn the entire town to the ground.
This is the kind of game where every time you are given multiple choices, there is no "good guy", "bad guy", or "neutral" choice. Only three random choices, where the game constantly skews the line between right, wrong, and insane. The kind of game where things you always wanted to do can be overdone, and where you can do it all with friends.
What about mods/custom games?
Unforgotten Quest isn't just a standalone game. We wanted to build a piece of software that would let us continue to expand the story after release at a much quicker speed then traditional games did. Sometimes RPGs aren't just about the experience, they can be about the end game, and we wanted to make sure we had the tools for future free content we could release after ship. This isn't a game we finish and move on, this is something we really want to grow with the community.
With UQ will come a very powerful, but easy to use level editor. Quests, monsters, classes, everything will be customizable via the level editor. We also really want to work with map makers during development, to include the tools to create all sorts of fun games and maps that we'll be showcasing and helping support throughout development and after release. But, we also want it to be a tool for younger gamers to be able to create cool multi-player games without any coding required.
- Create your OWN RPG. Create quests, build worlds, and make your own classes and bosses using the same awesome tools we'll be using to make UQ
- Design Fighting Games. Schmoopy, Nailo, Roamin: Super Smash Bros style? We'll make it so you have the tools and UI customization to do it.
- Tower Defenses, 2D Mobas, re-enact Hamlet. UQ may only be a 4 person game, but the level editor will be able to support 12 to 16 players.
We are building these tools so we can create Unforgotten Quest for the now and the future, but they are also something we want to involve the community to use and build with too!
Perks for your pledge...
We want to thank all of you who are supporting the development of Unforgotten Quest. We also really want to involve those of you who really want to be part of this game. Whether it's just having something named after you, or creating something you always wanted to see in video games, we'll be in contact with all of our supporters in the following months to really get your ideas and desires as part of the game.
Final thoughts...
This project is a long time coming for us. We have spent the better part of the last year planning and working towards having something really awesome to share with you guys. If you have ANY questions you can ask them on the forums for everyone to see the answer , or privately email them to us if you prefer (uquest@wittywizard.com). Thank you so much for taking an interest in Unforgotten Quest!
Risks and challenges
Testing. The scale of this game can be pretty overwhelming when it comes to making things right. We will be in need of real testers who can not only help us prepare the game for the public, but really get any bugs and problems out of the way before release.
Time Management. Our budget only allows us to safely work for two years on this game. Should major issues or problems arise that causes us to lose any of this time, we may have to cut back on the initial content with the games release. Regardless, whether the game is released with only half the classes or a third of the levels, as long as we have the funding to keep going we are determined to make this game.
Art. All of the game's art was created by two non-artists, as well as a few of our close friends. While we are more than capable to make the game that appears in the trailer, we really want to try and shoot for some of our bigger stretch goals with this Kick starter, so we can hire professionals to really make this game something special.
