if you can come up with a really good explanation/appeal, they probably won't rescind you

you should probably still work your ass off though

I've had really shitty depression, bad enough that I was hospitalized for a month for being considered a potential danger to myself. Do you think that's reasonable? I wanna explain myself but I would hate to come off as a whiny ass to whoever is reviewing my case.

Someone would have to be a real asshole to not making an exception for that. Hope it works out OP

I agree with SuedeAsian, I feel like that's a really good reason. Definitely appeal if it looks like they are going to rescind you.

Find another activity to do if possible. I've heard of people getting rescinded even when they described having prior mental issues, since colleges are afraid that you may have another episode.

man, that's sad

but yeah i'll stick to finding another activity, i've mostly recovered recently

You should really try your best to crank out at least a C. UCSD usually does not make any exceptions to the rule.

Hey I was in your same situation 2 years ago.

I got a D in AP Chem because I dicked around senior year and already got rescinded from 2 schools, but UCSD told me that if I took some easy ass community college intro chem class and passed it, then I would still be able to attend. So I did what they told me and, voila, I'm still at UCSD.

is that pretty much standard practice? or did they make a special case for you?

truthfully I'm not entirely sure if it's standard practice, but I know of several other examples of people who did the same thing as me. Just contact admissions office and propose retaking an intro to bio at a community college.

That's a basic go to for many UCSD cases. It's an easy way for them to commit to you while still shouldering none of the responsibility. I know someone who was kicked out after a few bad quarters, was told to go to CC, went to CC, picked up A's (in easy courses) and was readmitted without an application. He then flunked out again a year later but that's beside the point.

I literally got an F in AP Calc fall semester of my senior year, I messaged UCSD about it and never got a response. So imo they don't care if it's AP or a class that's more than you had to do but you should still try your best, just letting you know there is hope :)

Currently me right now. I have a D in AP Calc and trying my ass off to get the grade up. I'm worried that my admission will be revoked due to this. I'd like to thank my (new to AP calc) teacher for giving the class tests in which none of us had ever seen the material before.

Can you talk to your high school teacher? I mean, go through them first. "I'm depressed, shit's happening, I don't want this one grade to impede my entire future..."

All that jazz. I don't think you high school AP Bio teacher is that soulless that they'll keep you from getting into your college.

You're in a crazy time now where UCSD is trying to massively expand. They want more students and are trying to do their hardest to get everyone to come here.

you also mentioned why you're in this position, which is completely understandable and not just "i was fucking around".

Last thing, did you take the AP test yet? I know a lot of schools have this thing where if you pass the test you pass the class. Maybe speak with your teacher and department head at your high school.
