Just to note the capture in ME:A isn't direct. They adjusted the face to not make her look like a model.

Insert Reynolds' "but why" gif.

Good ol feminism. You aren't allowed to look good.

Yeah, I get that most people aren't "picture perfect" but ME:A just made them look like they have an extra chromosome

just made them look like they have an extra chromosome

I don't really get that...non of them actually look terrible. Don't get me wrong you can make some hideous creatures in the character creation but I feel that like always its just hyperbole.

I'm not sure that's how that works.

If you ask me Scott looks like a model... shrug

Lol Shepard face was from a model.... Mark Vanderloo... they dint seem to have any troubles with him.

hasn't Ryder's face been fixed recently? as well as addison's?

it's not massive. They fixed the eyes (added some shadowing and reflectiveness to make them not look lifeless) and made addison's makeup a lot less...extreme.

I get what you're trying to say, but Aloy does not "accurately" match that model. I assume that was intentional by guerilla tho

Those actress's must have been pissed when they saw the final product.

The interesting thing about MEA is that the visuals are actually very impressive at times. The facial animations can be wonky at times and their skin seems like some weird rubbery surface. Other than that though the game turned out to be a lot of fun. This is coming from someone who never like the ME franchise either.

EDIT: I should note though that Horizon is the better game. The combat is top notch.

I think MEA is a great warning to all games that a badly executed open world is still worse than a non open world.

Personally, I am getting tired of open world games. I'd rather the devs spend time on a really good story and a few side quests than a million fetch quests. I think open world could be done right but it still hasn't been done yet. Every last person will downvote me for this because "but Witcher 3".

the way your say that would mean no game type have even been done right

I think some have done better than others. I think there is a lot of room for improvement. Just making your worlds bigger and bigger and then filling them with hundreds of side quests is not something that impresses me. Right now we are going through basically an arms race when it comes to open world size. Every game tries to top the previous games. That might be good and all but the worlds are basically walking simulators or you are skipping them by fast traveling everywhere.

Not Witcher 3. Witcher 3 was more of the same in that regard, but it NAILED the story aspects, which most games fail at.

However in terms of gameplay BotW established a new and interesting gameplay loop, mostly by going back to the basics, as open world games largely destroyed themselves by adding SO many helping features (like minimap icons) the OW largely became meaningless. Though it goes a bit deeper than that (e.g. the physics system is a large part of the gameplay and only really shines in an open world environment).

But I get you: BotW is an exception. I am also tired of the same kind of OW game over and over again. Story is rarely a justification for me to buy a game. Good story is easier to make than good gameplay. And if I just want the game's story, I may as well watch it on YouTube. Gameplay is king. And many OW games forgot that.

Ugh, open world is the bane of all video game quality.

This is coming from someone who never like the ME franchise either.

It must be because no one who actually played, and enjoyed, the first trilogy could possibly enjoy this dog-shit.

Show the updated version of Sara Ryder if you're going to make a shitty ME:A hate post http://imgur.com/X3pe8Dj

Edit: Downvote all you want, doesn't change the fact that OP's picture is a false representation of the game.

Marginally better

That's better, but still bleh.

Yea but why are you trying to cover up ME mistakes?

Doesn't matter if they changed it after backlash. That's how they shipped the game idiot. They looked at that shitty job and were like yup good to go.

Wow, I would've had no idea /r/gaming hated MEA and thought that it's art style graphics was different bad!

Have you ever heard of the Witcher 3? All those devs had were Virtual Boys plugged into potatoes, but with a budget of $.45, they made a full open-world adventure game with free handjobs and warm milk!

So which one is supposed to be accurate? both are average.

Sara Ryder looks like a clay golem that melted.

I think in the end. The quality of a game weighs heavy on production time and budget. If they let the developers take their time and not rush, it looks great most of the time. But Mass Effect felt rushed to me, they should have delayed it a month or two for bug fixes.
