Personally I think it has a lot more to do with class than upbringing. I don't deny that certain races are overrepresented in crime statistics, but they're also typically over represented in relative poverty statistics as well.

Unless you're going to come out and say something as ridiculous as "black people are more violent than white people" the point your making is easily explained by upbringing.

And for the third time. I live in a 99 percent white farming community and this sort of attack happened to me a few years back by a group of wholly white working class farmer types.
