Disclosure of injuries. (self.reddevils)

I grew up in the American (US) culture of sports. When an athlete gets an injury - in the States (MLB, NBA, NFL, NHL, etc) - injuries are disclosed quite well. normally the anatomical name and the injured site is given (ex. Achilles Tendon, patellar tendon, etc.). Also, they disclose how severe it is (ex. grade 1 strain, rupture, etc.) and a time frame of the prognosis.

Why is it in football, all these facts are so ambiguous. Do people in Europe, or specifically England, simply not care?

Edit: I graduated with a sports therapy related degree, so this aspect of sports really interests me. Also, in the US this is pretty much all public information released by the relative leagues. I have noticed, at least with Manchester United, it is always up to the Manger's decision to disclose the injury.

I think because its so common & such a largely followed sport that simpler and more known names are used

I see your point of view. But, when we are give information like, "Phil Jones has injured his foot"; the amount of different bones, muscles, ligaments, and tendons is immense. Then try adding on the different grades of the severity of each respective injury, and we are talking about thousands of different possibilities.

They do tell you an ETA of expected return

As far as I'm concerned, a player's health is the concern of himself and his employer, not mine. Imagine if Darren Fletcher had to disclose his UC before he wanted to, that should be his decision.

Been wondering that myself for a while. I know a big part of injury disclosure is especially because of gambling which is why it confused me why there's not a similar disclosure in Europe.
