It's not a bad result outright but given the circumstances it's a really poor result, the circumstances being that Anderlecht had one shot on target and they scored with it while we had 7 and also scored once. I just don't want to be holding on to this slim lead at OT. If we freakishly get knocked out then our confidence will be lower than ever. It should be a walk at home but the longer we take to score, the worse.

I really want to be positive but after the past few months I'm struggling. The three positives I can really think of was our defenders pretty much cut out any threat, Carrick dictated play brilliantly (his over the top balls are stunning) and Rashford played well.

Negatives which I really hate focusing on but there's so many and it's the same thing every week. Crap finishing, too slow and lethargic at transitioning play from defence to attack, no movement in the box, no one really making runs. Jose made some funny substitutions especially bringing on Fellaini and TFM which made no sense whatsoever. Martial was pathetic, as harsh as that sounds but he looked so lazy and I fully understand why Rashford is the preferred option now.

Also does anyone else get irritated by how often Ibra is dropping deep. Mkhi although he played poor, looked up a few times to look for someone in the box and no one was there.

The worst part about these performances are although from our standard we're bad, we're always the better team and we should be coming away from these games with wins. Game after game it's the same thing happening and it's get boring talking about it but nothing is changing.

We really need something to kick start this last period of games (hopefully a win vs Chelsea) because if we play this way against a team like Lyon they will be a lot more clinical and punish us.

I agree completely about Martial. He was genuinely awful - a far cry from his cameo performance against Sunderland when, in only 6-7 mins on the field he looked hungry. Against Anderlecht he looked lazy and demotivated, I hope he's ok because he is going to develop into an incredible player but if he's not ok I can see Mourinho moving him on.

I've never been so sure that a player will be world class as I have been with Martial. He looked unplayable at times and an absolute nightmare for defenders. He's still got about 3 years on his contract but I can't see him leaving simply because no one will pay for the money required.

It might be the dreaded 'second season syndrome' so giving up on him would be extremely short sighted but if he puts in another performance like that again, he'll be dropped indefinitely Jose won't stand for it.

Martial did more in the cameo he had against Sunderland than the thirty minutes he played against Anderlecht. He genuinely looked appalling. I hope that was just a one-off.

I understand peoples frustration, but atleast we didn't lose.

We should have calmed down by now . It's not a bad result and we'll pass them easily in Old Trafford which will make this draw a good result . Lesson learnt is Jose should stop using Fellaini if he wants to defend a result.

Move on the next game. Life won't end.

I agree that it's not the worst result in the world, I think my frustration comes from the fact that we don't seem to be learning from previous mistakes. If we hadn't seen this situation over and over in other games, I wouldn't be nearly as frustrated with it.

Saying that, as long as we're focused for the return leg we should be fine.

Going to bring this up here cause it doesn't need its own thread and I'm not sure where else to bring it up.

Seen a lot of discussion about whether we're over reliant on Ibra. Obviously he's been really important for us and has far outscored anyone else on the team, but I really am starting to think he hurts us in some ways. The top comment mentions that Ibra dropped too deep and I agree, he does it in a lot of games especially when he gets starved of service. I think the fact that he's so versatile and such a reliable finisher for us is why we're over reliant. When Ibra is on the field the other players know they have someone who can finish chances, but can also get on the ball and create if he needs to. He fundamentally changes the way we can play in the final third. Martial and Rashford are much better using their pace to beat defenders either through dribbling or runs behind and Rooney has just regressed as a whole. In a team that is so used to having a forward who is such a threat in so many different ways, if we play anyone else, our whole attack has to adjust to a different method. I really like Ibra, but I am starting to think that he forces us to play a certain way that no one else on the team can replicate, and that hurts us overall.

Slightly disappointed, not devastated as we have an advantage to take to OT. Another 90 minutes and i think we'll do it. I can understand frustration, but it's not as if we were battered. It was 1 moment, whilst it's annoying, it's promising for the future that we aren't getting beaten, and we are dominating games. If every league game was played over 2 legs we'd probably have won the league by now :p

A lot of people on this sub have their standards set far, far too high in my opnion. Maybe it was our summer signings, who knows. Yeah they're an inferior team and we should've won, but we've got an away goal in the quarter final of European competition, with a 2nd leg to play. It's hardly the end of the world.

Our players are overrated. We should have finished this tie off and been able to go into Chelsea all cylinders firing. Now who knows who Jose will play Sunday. I don't think he still knows who his best formation is. He needs to have a window or two more to bring in the exact type of player he wants.
