Jose (Post-Match Press Conference)
Jose: "If I was a Manchester United defender, I would be very upset with the attacking players. They did the serious work. The people who had to kill the game didn't. It is the same problem, we had control, we had chances, but we do not score enough goals. In my poor English, I cannot find a better word than sloppy. You have to play more seriously. Put the performance of two or three of our attacking players together and you squeeze not much juice out of it. Marcus Rashford, Jesse Lingard, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Anthony Martial - they were very similar"

Some Thoughts
So we drew. How about that?
Thought we largely controlled the game without doing a whole lot. We created some chances and definitely should have bagged another goal but for poor finishing (Pogba, Mkhi, Lingard come to mind) but overall given the control we had last night we should have been doing more than we did. I've mentioned it before but I always get the impression the players are conserving their energy for the next game and start to warm down around the 65th minute if we're winning.
Thought the defence largely did well and Carrick was great in the centre picking passes. I think over the summer it's time we invest in actual wingers - we have a lot of playmakers on the wing (Mkhi, Mata) or a lot of converted strikers who cut inside (Martial, Rashford) but we don't have pure out and out wingers and we're missing that.
Now it's time to rely on our perfect cup record this season at OT (P10 W10). Still don't anticipate any problems but it's more serious a match than it should be and means that when we're playing Chelsea on Kendrick Sunday we'll have to keep an eye on that game.
