Because of how lengthy is my opinion will be...
TLDR - Its not all down to the managers fault in terms of how the team is doing, it is a 2 way street, so all the discussions starting about how shit the manager is in his first season should die.
This shouldn't come to me as a surprise but I'm quite surprised that we are still in talks with some people, in a debate of we still have a possibility of a shit manager on our hands. I can understand that emotions have been high from our consistent draws but even in a logical point of view some of the opinions are mind blowing.
I understand we will never be on the same page but we can all agree that we will be on the same page of wanting to see United go back to doing great things. It angers me when I see us still in talks of having a shit manager. Who is better suited for the job really? Pep? Pochettino? I saw a comment even stating that Allgeri could make the move in the summer and come to United. Ok, lets be real here seriously. Allegri has a world class team at his disposal who can win the Serie A in their sleep and they have had amazing runs in the last few seasons of Champions League and are currently on the verge of beating 1 of the best teams in the world to advance in the next Champions League stage. Would he seriously leave to come to a team that has still been in the 'transition' phase for 4 years already, only making it into Champions League once and being knocked out in the group stages embarrassingly.
Between the 2 managers in term of success (Moyes not counted) there are 38 trophies between the managers and we still don't have managers better suited for this job. Each of them have had their different circumstances as to why the couldn't or may not bring United back to greater days. So when does it stop becoming only the managers fault so that we can realize this is a much bigger job at hand?
Being a United manager comes with a massive pressure to be great in the toughest league in the world. Even fans experience the pressure because we have to defend them no matter what the result is. Oh you signed Martial for 80mil?! How stupid can your team be? Oh you signed Pogba, Zlatan and Mhkitaryan?! You guys are def gonna win the league or come 2nd to Pep! You guys are drawing matches at home and you are in 5th place? Face it you guys are destined for mediocrity. We get slated for winning or losing. But now it is so easy to say the managers tactics are shit and therefore we should consider hiring this manager because of this and that. We protect the players much more but yet they are the ones who have to execute the tactics. The manager works with what he has. You can obviously see on the pitch that not enough players get into the box. Our chances are there for the world to see but the end product isn't there. We attack for 70mins straight on a 1 goal lead and no matter what the chances are, we still can't score! There is nothing wrong in my opinion in wanting to kill the game around the 75th min because we have been trying to score from the start of the whistle... That's a really long time to be trying to score goals, the game should be done regardless by then. Obviously it should be different if it is a draw... Goals should be coming from our wingers or midfield on some occasions and even from our defense when it comes to corners and free kicks aiming for headers hoping to go in.
But no, lets say Mourinho is shit because he slates players in public so their confidence is too shit to do anything right. If Mou isn't doing it, you guys will slate them and the media as well would have a field day about it. If Mou keeps slating players in public he will lose the dressing room. If Mou appreciates how hardworking the team was but walked away with a draw. NO! The guy is blind if he thought we did well. But you guys weren't in that dressing room and the players probably played the tactics to the T, but it didn't work but they listened to instructions and he could be praising them for that.
Let's all just realize that there maybe a mentality issue among some players who can't handle the pressure of what comes with the United shirt making it a bit difficult for the entire team to sing from the same song sheet on the pitch and Mou is seriously working with what he has now as best as he can. We have 2 ways of getting into champions league, we have won a trophy and we are on course possibly to win another. The draws are infuriatingly frustrating but we are 4 points away from top 4. Which isn't great either but lets also remember that we had our eggs in many baskets and we have fought to the death with all of them, its possible that we are just fucking tired. I've been at a job that requires your body most of the times to do your work and that shit is exhausting as fuck. There are so many factors that could be at play with all the different managers we have had but we can all agree the same mentality when things were good isn't there anymore. We have a new generation of players who all want to be treated differently whether its to be cuddled or whatever the case maybe and yes, Mou is probably still in his dark ages where you better perform or else which doesn't work well with the younger players.
All in all we should wait till the end of 2017/18 season to bring back shit manager talks and who can take over.
