It's become a huge part of the way our team plays and I find it a little bit infuriating at times. It's all just slow build-up play and very predictable. How do we stop this and get our exciting play back? Do we have the players for it? Is this what we're limited to? Genuinely curious to hear what others think of this.

I agree, the first thing we do often now is to pass back, even Carrick does this. I don't know whether Mourinho is encouraging this or LVG has left a permanent scar.

Just look at Chelsea, Kante starts counter attack instantly after winning a ball. We would pass it back first thing.

We just have a lot of possession and not much else. It's strange because so many times we'll have the ball against a lesser team, they'll dispossess us and then have a real chance at goal through direct and attacking play. I sit there scratching my head wondering why, with a team full of a talent, we don't just do that. Fuck the possession, let's risk possession and take consistent chances. Only need a couple of them to go in to win a game with our defence.

Yh we have the ball in our half, switching it from side to side. This kind of possession is easy to defend against, and 'makes us look like dominating'.
