Anonymous asked: Communism can work. We have single payer healthcare and public schools and they're good. Why shouldn't the government take over everything else?
It can’t work, as the last century of history has repeatedly shown. Those government services cannot continue to function without enormous infusions of resources seized from the private sector. If the government takes over everything else, they’ll be in the situation of a parasite that has killed its host - starving to death inside the corpse of a once-functional economy.
can you imagine thinking public schools are good?
No, I can’t, frankly. I’m sure that was someone trying to troll me and I was tempted to just suggest he ask the state to give him a free helicopter ride but I thought I’d give it a concise but proper answer instead.
OKAY i think what that person (and many others) really need to be educated about is a little something called socialism. NO ITS NOT A BAD WORD GET OVER IT. Its like the calm before the storm on the political scale. To believe that the economy would ever get by w just a flow of money coming from the government and into your pocket and then back out w taxes is fucked. We need private ownership. But w limits. I really hate when ppl just jump off the cliff directly into dictatorship bc they are too stupid to understand that there is an inbetween.
And here’s an 18-year-old chiming in to tell us about how socialism is a sensible, moderate position that just means private property but with limits, to underscore my point about public schools being bad.
